"What a disappointment!"
I have stayed at this hotel twice before and loved every minute. I felt confident in recommending it for my friend and myself. What a mistake. We arrived early and left our luggage, duly taking a docket for each piece. When we came back to retrieve it, we were offered two totally different pieces! The room had not been touched on our second day, and when I phoned to complain, there was no apology. The hotel is now staffed it seems by school leavers, not old enough to be there alone. They have no inter personal skills whatsoever, being unable to even greet you. I was so disappointed for me but more so for my friend who had heard such great things. I shall not be returning. Shame on you Hotel California
"A hotel on the decline'"
We stayed in this hotel for a couple of nights i connection with a week-end visit with some friends. We usually stay in this hotel when visiting Berlin, and thought we knew what to expect. However, this year the hotel seemed to have dropped a notch or two. The check-in was extremely tedious, and the staff did not seem to be very experienced. One of us has booked and paid for an upgraded room several months ago, but the hotel was still not able to provide it upon check in. The rooms were still spacious and nice, and the beds are very comfortable. Tv had a variety of different channels. The bathroom is nice. However, the complimentary wi-fi did not work in all of the rooms, as some of us were not available to connect in our rooms. This is annoying in 2016. The breakfast buffet was the biggest disapointment of the stay. The breakfast hall was totally overcrowded, it was not easy to find a free table that was clean, so we had to remove the previous guests leftovers by ourselves. Cutlery and plates were almost impossible to find. A lot of the food types were no longer available when we arrived 0930. Teawater was not available. We ended up waiting for more than 30 minutes for food to be supplied. Still the hotel has a perfect location, and it is reasonably priced. Hopefully our experiences this year were just a set of unlucky circumstances, and not the start of a downward trend for this great hotel.
"Location Location Location"
We got this hotel as part of a city break package but after getting over the rather terse receptionist we found the hotel overall very pleasent didn't have the breakfast but that wasn't a problem as we ate guite well elsewhere the main asset of this hotel is the Location EXCELLENT right in the middle of the Kurfürstendamm metro stop 50 yds away 7€ day ticket great value as the metro is very good and well within walking distance of the Xmas market (the main reason for the visit) at Karl Wilheim Church
Early arrival meant our room was not ready - no problem so we left our bags & got a receipt. Trouble is the receipt did not match that on the bags & receptionist tried to give us someone else's bags! The next day we went out early & returned late to discover our room had not been visited by the chambermaid. Unmade beds at 2130 at night did not go down well especially when reception said it was because they were short staffed. Lastly checking out at 0800 on Sunday morning....the male receptionist was more interested in chatting to his colleague & completely ignored us. So rude! The hotel appeared to be staffed by young people whose mothers probably dont realise they are out the house! No obvious sign of anyone of managerial status was around, & certainly no-one over 23! Not impressed, wont be back to this hotel. 😟
A very well situated Hotel on the vibrant Kurfurstendamm and very close to Bus routes and the Ubahn. The front desk check in was painless and efficient and leaving bags when checking out (for those with late flights etc) was not a problem. The decor is a little tired in the Hotel but does not impact on the overall stay. The room had a mini bar with only a few soft drinks in and no kettle for tea/coffee making which was a little annoying first thing in the morning. I did not eat at the in house restuarant so can not comment. The rooms were very warm, the bathroom and showers worked very so no complaints in that regard. It is advertised as 4 Star Hotel, however it is (personally) 2 1/2, 3 at most. Overall, an enjoyable with no major issues.
