Ca' Nigra Lagoon Resort is located on the Canal Grande, the main and most suggestive waterway of Venice along which most of the city's majestic palaces stand.
"A lovely hotel, but not for single rooms"
This is a very nice hotel, off the beaten track a bit, but still on the Grand Canal. There are beautiful gardens, and the staff is very helpful and accommodating. The breakfast is wonderful...BUT, do not ever get a single room here. I had a room with a nice view, but the size of a prison cell! When I used the shower, the bathroom flooded, and there is no air control. I had other working associates that had much better deals at other hotels, really beautiful single rooms, for less than I paid for a cramped space!!!!
"An Oasis in the Lagoon"
We stayed at the Ca´ Nigra for a night before a cruise. It is easy to reach from the train station and from Piazzale Roma where the airport express bus stops. Once you enter the grounds through a small doorway you enter an oasis of peace, quiet and romantic luxury. The hotel is a perfect mix of old venetian heritage and modern touch. The rooms with old (sometimes squeaky) floors feature modern glass cubicle bathrooms. The gardens right next to the Canale Grande are what you imagine of a venetian retreat. Breakfast is good and tasty and the staff preparing it is helpfull and friendly - as is the staff at the front desk, We hope to stay again at this hotel in the future.
"Could be better"
The Hotel looks nice and the staff is welcomed. The room was alright, just need to be cleaned properly. However, arriving in a room with mosquitos, and not being able to control the air conditioning, calling the reception to fix it, and they aren't able to manage and tell you "sorry but if you want you can open the window"... Seriously!!! Really disappointed!!
"Good location with garden"
Ca' Nigra, is located at a good location, near the train station, so very easy when you have a lot of luggage. So also ideal for getting on one of the many "bus boats". Rooms are old, but what do you expect in Venice. You have to keep that in mind. The bathroom is ok, beds are a bit hard. Breakfast is ok (too bad there are a lot of pigeons that steel the food of your plate, when sitting outside, but you cán sit outside! in a very nice garden) Nice view on the canal, while drinking coffee. The staff is super friendly and polite.
We loved it here despite not really enjoying Venice due to the crowds. This hotel is conveniently located next to the train station and away from the hustle and bustle of San Marco. The staff couldn't have been friendlier and I dread to think how our experience would have been if we hadn't had this little oasis of peace! We generally found Venice to be poor value for money, but this hotel was outstanding value - our room was spacious, clean and the power shower blew our scalps off. The breakfast was delicious and we loved the fact that we could eat and drink outside by the canal in complete peace with just the hotel guests. We won't be returning to Venice but we would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a hotel to keep them sane!!!!
