"A pleasant surprise"
We booked this as a Mystery Hotel for a nights stay with a weeks parking before flying from Gatwick. We consider that we were fortunate to be here. We had a large room on the Garden Floor. The room was clean and well appointed. On our night of stay there was a presentation dinner occurring elsewhere within the hotel so the restaurant was only serving from a limited menu. However there was a reasonable selection. The food was well presented and very good. On our return there were no problems. Our car was in the same place that we had parked it and we retrieved our keys swiftly. We will not hesitate to stay here again.
Stayed at the Copthorne hotel the night before our flight. Booked as a mystery 4 star hotel on holiday extras. Hotel looks great from the outside and rustic and basic inside. Checked in ok and asked for a wake up call, was told to set the alarm on my phone just in case there system failed !!! Also booked a taxi as it cost £9 for the taxi. The bus cost £4:50 each so a no brainier to book a taxi. Asked if the hotel had a post box as I had a card I needed to post, there was a post box but the letter box only took standard size envelopes so I could not post my card. Rooms ok with flat screen TV, bath & shower, coffee making facilities (enough coffee, tea, sugar & milk for one cup each per couple ! And a standard double bed. Went to have some food from the swan pub which is joined to the hotel and was told that they had stopped serving as it was busy ! The menu was very very basic and minimal choice. I paid for our drinks £12 for a pint of cider & a small glass of wine and headed back to one of the eateries in the hotel. We found a bar and asked if they were serving food, they said service has been stopped as they were busy. We ordered some drinks and went to sit down. About 20 minutes later the bar man came over and said that we could order food if we still wanted too. The menu was exactly the same as the menu in the swan pub and we were told that there was no pies or burgers which cut the menu by 1/3rd We ordered and waited 3/4 hr for our food to arrive which if I'm honest was NOT worth the wait. A very disappointing start to our holiday In my opinion hotel with parking good value for money considering its London however food & service very disappointing
"Good start to the holiday with the bonus of parking"
Nice hotel, good food and service in the sports bar, ideal for us to watch the Friday night Rugby, the barman switched the channels for us. Bedroom comfortable and had all the essentials for an overnight stay. Taxi arrived on time as we had an early start, but it does run a shuttle bus, we just prefer a private taxi and it does not cost much more. On return, it was a quick service to get our keys back. We will certainly stay here again.
"1 night stay"
Stayed here for a business awards ceremony. The room where the awards were held is excellent at night - however, like the rest of the hotel is very jaded in daylight. It took reception an eternity to book me in even though I had booked on line several weeks before. When I went to buy a drink at the bar they wouldn't let me put it on the room as it had not been authorised at reception...but it was not offered (even though I had my card ready for the receptionist! The rooms are functional but in severe need of re carpeting...mine was threadbare! And there is no internet unless you pay for it....
Booked the park and stay, looked good value. However parking is fine but the quality of the hotel was awful. Paid an extra £30 for a room upgrade but the rooms are very poor with thread bare carpets and poor quality bathroom. The room smells stale. Security is also a concern a maintenance guy trying to access our room at 1.30am and then crashing and banging for the next 3 hours (apparently trying to fix fire alarms) no reason given for trying to access our room. Restaurant is good. Only good as a transit hotel
