Not great at all. Don't think I've ever rang reception in a hotel.. still stayed here. TV didn't work, no big deal.. the big deal is 20m to call Reception to sort it.. no answer. Back at room at 8pm. The noise around sounded like maintenance... above... loud at banging. Again no answer at reception... turns out I'm above the gym.. avoid that area. Hotel bar atmosphere cold, dull, lifeless totally. Hotel needs a make over. It's scruffy and dated
"Uncontrollable Tempreture! "
Stopped for the last 2 nights!! Like an oven!! Each room has "assistive temperature control" (not aircon but fan ) over ridden by the main hotel system! What's the point in having room controls when yo can't use it!! The staff were great but clear they had no real control over the system! Only other issue was that from 11pm you can't pay at the bar by cash or card but can only book against the room!! Not ideal!
"Promising start which ended badly"
My partner and I visited the hotel for a New Years Eve break. Arrived at the hotel to find the car park was charged at £6 per night, didn't seem too unreasonable. We had booked on for dinner but with it being NYE they were only serving bar menu food, on quick inspection of the menu, we realised it was too expensive for what you got...nearly £15.00 for a burger. The Receptionist who checked us in, truly did not want to be there, in fairness she did seem to be suffering with a cold, however that should not have affected her customer service. I don't think she smiled once, answered questions with one word answers and then sent to our room. No explanation on facilities, Wi-Fi (which is free but neither of us could connect). We got to our room which was clean but dated, mis matched furniture everywhere, only a double bed on wheels that moves if you so much as dare to turn over. We decided on getting a takeaway for dinner instead of eating at the over priced bar downstairs. We ordered from cinnamon spice who delivered within the hour and the food was remarkable. We had a busy day so decided on not waiting up till midnight and headed to bed...this is were it all starts. The room was unbearably hot so we switched on the air conditioning which is noisy and offers little to no difference. The window was then open again no difference but plenty of traffic noise. Finally managed to get to sleep until rudely awoken by someone practically kicking the door down and shouting to be let in, we shouted that she had the wrong door but she carried on with the kicking and banging. I got up and opened the door and told her to move on. Huge security error here, she was basically dressed like a tramp of the street and had been heavily drinking. Why would a 4 star hotel have allowed her to get to bedroom floors. I have been in other copthorne hotels where you need to use your key card to access stairs and lifts to the bedrooms, after this incident, I felt very unsafe and not to mention hot as we hadn't sorted that problem either. The mattress was hard so getting to sleep with all this was impossible. I woke up at 7am and begged my partner to take us home. We complained this morning to Reception and got the usual reply of why didn't you call down....well at 2am in the morning I shouldn't have to act as your cctv camera when I paid to get a decent night sleep. We were meant to go to Windsor this morning but we're far too tired and thought heading home was the best idea. Felt hugely let down by the hotel and had a better night sleep at the Travelodge in Langley just down the road, cheaper rate, king size bed, power shower and right next door to the Toby Carvery offering an all you can eat breakfast.
"Christmas few days"
We stayed here for 5 days after Christmas and found it a lovely hotel. The staff were lovely and friendly. We did not book it with breakfast but decided to have breakfast every morning which was lovely. There was plenty to choose from from continental, cereals and full English. The leisure facilities were also very nice and our little girl got great use from the swimming pool. Great private parking and only 2 mile away from Windsor.
"Fine for a budget short break"
We stayed here on a Saturday night following a visit to Legoland. Hotel was booked as part of the package so it was very reasonable. It suited our needs for this trip - room was fine (we had an extra bed for the children), hotel staff were all courteous and helpful and the meal we had in the Chinese in the evening was very good. We used the pool in the morning, little bit dated but clean and quite well maintained. My only minor criticism would be that it was a bit of a scrum at breakfast on the Sunday morning, could just have been that we were unlucky with the timing. All in all, the hotel was ideal for what we needed - a convenient, reasonably priced overnight stop.
