"The most elegant luxury hotel in the Nordic countries."
Although Copenhagen is like a builders yard as the work on the Metro Ring progresses, there is no better way to experience the ultimate in luxury, service and care than experiencing the finest hotel in the Nordic countries, D'Angleterre. Completing a total refurbishment in 2013, The Hotel d'Angleterre was constructed as a neoclassic palace, and has maintained its 1870s historical aspects. The hotel blends elements of its original legacy with the latest in tailored services, elegance and technology. It is ideally situated next to the Royal Danish Theatre on the Kongens Nytorv Square in the heart of Copenhagen and connected to the famous Strøget pedestrian shopping street. The hotel features newly designed rooms including suites all with complimentary Wi-Fi, spacious marble bathrooms, the latest technology and individually controlled climate systems. The stunning Royal Suite, with one to three bedrooms, features a grand balcony and fireplace, and a private dining room. Enjoy the best of the best at Hotel D'Angleterre - it will be an unforgetable and unique experience.
"A Sea of Calm"
Always trust the travel agent: Arriving after an 11 hour flight, we staggered into the unbearably beautiful lobby and were greeted with a smile and an upgrade. Once inside the suite, we snuggled onto the DUX bed and pulled the dual duvets over our heads. Despite the fact that the suite faces the square and there appears to be industrial machinery digging non stop, there was not a jackhammer to be heard inside the room. The hotel itself is drop dead gorgeous, in hues of lavender, purple, grays and cream, in a high deco style. The finishes are stunning, with nickel chandeliers and sconces gracing the public halls and dark gray deep wool carpet that you just want to curl your toes into. Breakfast was perfectly cooked and delivered on time. We didn't try the fancy restaurant, other than through room service, but the food was delish (their tomato soup and french fries are addictive). The gym is like most of the European hotels we've tried, more of a nod to us fitness freaks than a true model, but it is adequately equipped, and the spa staff and the facilities were lovely, although I didn't try it this trip. Housekeeping was discreet and efficient. The concierge sent us to great restaurants (fine dining Mielcke & Hurtigkarl, as well as the food truck building - soo cool). I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for luxury lodging- there was not a mark the hotel didn't hit.
We are just back from 4 nights at this wonderful hotel. From the outside it is a beautiful building in a fantastic location. Our room was fabulous and all the staff were so lovely. The indoor pool was perfect (if a bit chilly) and we went for a swim everyday. We were visiting with our 10 year old child and everyone was so lovely to him. We ate in the bar a couple of times and the food was great. We can't wait to go back.
Seriously Good! Small but very well performed sunday brunch. A small range of delicious dishes, presented in small servings on the small buffé! The egg dishes from the kitchen is to die for, especially the egg confit! But everything and every serving is small except the staff's ego! Well behaved but very danish, large headed! Go and book!
From the moment we arrived (without enough cash to pay the taxi because nobody understands Danish Krona except the Danes), the staff were amazing. Somebody paid the cab, the bags disappeared, and nothing was too much trouble. The room we'd booked turned out to be pretty small so we went a bit crazy and upgraded to an amazing suite opening onto the terrace overlooking the square where we were able to entertain friends staying elsewhere. Unfortunately, because our hotel was so amazing, they became a bit of a nuisance, refused to leave and starting ordering stuff on room service. The only way to get them out was to suggest we all eat in the restaurant, which was totally delicious. I'd happily have moved in for a month. Fabulous place. Wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else.
