"Exceeded our expectations!"
The very first thing of note is location, location, location! One can walk across the bridge to see everything there is to see in the old town of Geneva, and the shopping is beyond description. We are "WalMart" shoppers, so we delighted ourselves in stores like C & A, not the designer ones, but those were all available, too. We loved looking in the window at Mont Blanc. Beautiful, $1000+ pens were a sight to behold. The tour bus company sits behind the hotel. We always take the 2 hour city tour in a new city to explore, get the history and culture, and then plan where we will concentrate our visit. Glad we took it, as we got to see the "other side" of Geneva, which is headquarters to so many international orgs that we lost count! Upon arrival, we had a lovely hot cider with spices. Although we arrived much earlier than we had expected, they accommodated us with beautiful rooms, where we could look out at Lac Leman. The amenities were top rate. The soap is worth putting back in the box and taking home! We got the renovated rooms, and it was a mix of traditional period decor, and the noveau European touches. The check in staff escorted us to our rooms, and explained how everything worked. The best part of this hotel is the concierge service. Patient, thorough, and full of great suggestions! We were able to find our way to Lausanne by train, thanks to an expertly drawn map, and tips about the ticketing and details about the train schedule. They also recommended stopping in Gruyeres on our way home, and it was one of the highlights of our trip! Quaint, historical, and welcoming. It was, in every way, an "autograph hotel" experience. Much history, over the top service, and so many fanciful touches from the bygone era as well as the latest in colors and fabrics. The breakfast buffet was just so-so. I think that next time, we will order from the menu. Otherwise, the quality of the food was as expected. Also, do not wish to forget to add that the valet who retrieved our car also expertly packed it as we were leaving. He explained where he put everything, and was most helpful. As the vehicle is parked off premises, I recommend not leaving anything in the car. Lastly, I had taken ill the night before our departure and overslept past the time we had wanted to leave. I packed in a hurry, and left behind some clothing items. Housekeeping and the concierge made sure that everything was wrapped in tissue, sealed with special stickers, and they arrived here the day after I returned from my trip! That extra service was the icing on the cake, and at a reasonable cost. It took a few years to save for this visit, and I can honestly say it was absolutely well worth it! Hope to travel back again.
"Exquisite property with detailed oriented and warm staff."
Stayed in suite 410 with terrace that faces the lake. We were greeted by professional, warm and inviting staff that facilitated check-in. The room is stellar with elegant decor and fantastic bed. In the evening we went down to the bar for some cocktails and were attended by Michael Marcos, an incredible bartender with extraordinary customer service and meticulous attention for detail. He is attentive and greatly skilled. He truly takes pride in his work! We can't wait to go back. Thank you to all the staff for being so kind and making our stay in Geneva absolutely incredible!
"Beautiful Rooms, But Needs to Finish Renovation"
As I say in the title, it is hard to find fault with the rooms. They are gorgeous and well appointed. The staff is quite friendly and helpful. Only drawbacks for me were the lobby renovation and what I assume is a follow on effect of this work - the set-up for casual dining and service in the bar area. It is small, service is way too slow, and there was rather corny elevator type music playing at loud volume which sort of destroyed the ambience. I presume this will be repaired when the renovation is complete.
We stayed two nights, (including New Year's Eve), at the Hotel de La Paix while in Geneva... It was amazing!!! Antonin, Carmen, and the rest of the staff were very friendly, helpful and were "on spot" with their recommendations. This was our first trip to Geneva and we will definitely stay at the Hotel de la Paix for our next trip!!! The Coffee was great!!! A Special "Thank You" to Antonin for making our stay unforgettable!!!
Unfortunately I was only able to stay 2 nights, but wish it could have been longer. The hotel staff were very friendly and extremely helpful with taking my bags to my room, providing suggestions for dining and shopping and ordering taxis. The room was one of the newly renovated rooms and was beautiful with a view of Lake Geneva. Housekeeping did an excellent job. The room was perfect. I did spend some time in the bar and Michael, the bartender was awesome. He made a drink and was so methodical on every aspect while making it. I had the breakfast buffet the morning I left. The wait staff were very friendly. The food was very good. I'm not a big scrambled eggs person, but the eggs actually had wonderful flavor. My stay was perfect. If I ever get the opportunity to come back to Geneva, I will definitely stay there again.
