The Hotel de Rome is in the thriving Mitte district at the centre of Berlin. It is located on Bebelplatz, just off Unter den Linden. The Bebelplatz is one of the most impressive squares in Berlin, bordered by imposing classical buildings and has lots of things to see; to the right of the hotel is the Opera House, and to the left is the former Royal Library, which now houses the University Law School.
Mitte is one of the oldest districts in Berlin, so naturally there are plenty of sights to see and things to do. The Brandenburg Gate is nearby, just off the Bebelplatz, as are the Reichstag and the Alexanderplatz. There are plenty of museums to see, including the National Gallery, the Pergamon Museum, the Berlin Cathedral and the Museum of Antiquities. After all that history, if what you fancy is a nice relaxing dinner, or a look around the shops, then getting around Berlin couldn’t be easier due to this superb location at the heart of the city.

"Short breek in Berlin"
This hotel is the Brown's equivalent in Berlin. Easy to reach from Friedrichstrasse with an impeccable service. The hotel staff are formal and friendly. The rooms and service are what one would expect from this hotel. This is the place to stay in Berlin
"Wonderful, caring staff"
We visited this wonderful hotel for a long weekend, having already stayed in Berlin before at the Adlon Kempinski Hotel. We had, in all honesty, wanted to return to the Adlon again, but it wasn't available. As it turns out, I'm so pleased that we chose the Hotel de Rome instead. The overwhelming factor that made our stay truly memorable was the attentiveness of the staff. Everyone we encountered was polite, caring and made an effort to really get to know us. The bar staff even got to know what drinks we wanted, and the staff at breakfast were never too busy to chat and offer advice about the city. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings and are spotlessly clean, and we are always very fussy. The spa was quiet and also scrupulously clean. The pool is set at a good temperature for serious swimming, and again, the staff were great. The hotel itself is in a great position for the Christmas markets and the shops. So, all in all, a great hotel that I would recommend to anyone.
"Your moneys worth"
This hotel is walking distance to many of Berlin´s attractions. The room was clean and spacious. The breakfast buffet was pretty good as well. We had dinner at the hotel´s restaurant "La Banca" and the service was slow and it was too expensive for what we ate. Other than that, I do recommend staying here!
"Home away from home in Berlin"
Just finished my 6th stay De Rome. Location is unbeatable. Property and building is spectacular, the building was originally the headquarters of "Dresden Bank" Built sometime in the last half of the 19th century. The renovations done when converting to hotel some 10 years ago has really paid homage to the splendor and greatness of the building. The pool is located in the banks old vault basement. Rooms are big and very comfortable. The only drawback is that the beds are a wee bit too firm to my taste. But what really sets this hotel in a different league is the staff. In my 6 stays over the last years, I have never had one single negative experience with any of the staff. They run a tight ship with consistently high quality. This is not a cheap hotel, but compared to many other 5star superior hotels around the world, you feel its worth every cent when checking out and being presented the bill. That can not be said about many of its competitors, in Berlin and globally.
"Solid but sterile"
Very German. High on efficiency. Not so high on charm. Rooms generous in size but my bedroom suite faced an office block so my drapes had to always be closed. The hotel is decorated in black and ddifferent shades of gray, so it all appears rather dreary inside.
