"The service was far below what I would expect from a hotel"
We'd had a cancelled flight so were due to arrive late and leave early, before transiting to Malapascua. We booked an airport transfer via the hotel only there was nobody at the airport when we arrived (10:40pm). I called 3 numbers for the hotel from my booking and the website and nobody answered. After waiting for almost an hour, a helpful driver from another hotel offered to organise a van for the 5 of us and our luggage (at a significantly reduced rate mind you). Finally a lost looking man who'd been wandering the airport asked a security guard a question and the security guard pointed to us. Turns out he was our driver but with no sign for the hotel or our name, how were we to know' On arrival at the hotel, I was asked to resend my booking confirmation because it looked like they only had one room booked for us (we had prepaid for two). The two rooms were on two separate floors even though 2/3 of our kids are under age so we'd requested to be together. By the time we were settled it was almost 1am. My husband and I were on the fifth floor and it smelt overwhelmingly of mould, damp and must. I got sick with a nasty cold / sinus infection after leaving and I have no doubt that this helped contribute to it. To get a wifi signal to communicate with our kids, we had to stand outside our door as we couldn't even pick up a network in the room. The next morning we went to breakfast and were due to be picked up at 8am. As I left breakfast, around 5 minutes before our pickup I asked the porter to come to our room and collect our bags (we had been to a wedding and were also diving so we had a considerable amount between the 5 of us). 30 minutes later I was still waiting so I called reception and asked for her to send someone up. After another 15 minutes we got tired of waiting and so brought our own bags down only to find our driver had been waiting this whole time, had asked for us but nobody had thought to contact us and let us know. When I handed the keys to the receptionist, she told me that they needed another 5 minutes or so to check our rooms to make sure everything was okay. I refused. Not only had we been waiting all that time, they had my card details on file and could charge me if anything was missing. Because of all the delays we were over an hour late getting on the road and then had significant difficulty when we reached Malapascua because of bad weather and the coastguard not allowing boats on the water. Disappointing.
"nice hotel but old"
easy to find and clear directions. near to ayala mall and several local food stores. not much happening in the area but easy to reach many spots. the staff was helpful and smiling always. the lobby have small bar and dining area. the art on the walla was wow. the room was nice and have all wt a traveller need. the internet was not much strong but ok. breakfast was mainly for locals but it was yummy.
"Average hotel with helpful staff but not as good as Harolds or Mandarin Plaza"
The first thing they tell you when arriving early at reception is that you have to pay an early check-in fee. Refuse, as this is completely unnecessary if they already have a vacant room! The room was medium-sized and with big beds and good enough facilities but I had a room on the 11th floor and had no hot water for shaving or showering the whole period I was there in spite of complaining and being told that the engineer had fixed it! I had to boil water in the water heater so I could shave but do not take cold showers! The 11th floor lighting was usually not on so they are maybe trying to economize' The breakfast buffet was extremely good and the restaurant/bar provided good meals in the evening (it was raining all the time so I didn't go out to eat) and the service was friendly and attentive. We had a good lunch there and there was an excellent choice of dishes so that everyone was happy! I had to use a conference room and Mark fixed this for me with the manager and we were very happy with the service provided. The hotel looks modern and is functional except for cold water shower, but I cannot recommend it when there are so many other good hotels nearby!
"Affordable and Convenient"
The one of the plus for this hotel is its location, it is just walking distance to Ayala Mall. The room is clean, relatively good enough space. Good choices for breakfast with egg station but needs more area to cater more guest during breakfast time. Other thing they have small flat screen tv and I cannot connect my portable hard drive to it.
Stayed here 4 days. End of December till 04 January. Room was clean but Bathroom facilities were a bit dated with a fixed shower. Staff were ok and very helpfull and price of hotel was good. Breakfast was always cold, but fresh cooked omelettes were always great. One plus was the room extension facility, we weren't asked to pay the earth for this. My flight was midnight so this came in very handy.
