The location is near from city center by metro, around 3 stops. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, air conditionals. The elevator was a bit still old fashion able to load only 4 people with carriers. The staff were kind and helpful and parking place is available with 11 EUR per day.
"Hotel OK but hopeless at dealing with problems !!!"
Arrived at Hotel early evening and were given our room cards. We asked about what time the bar would close as we wanted to get out and about and see the city and have something to eat. We were told the bar would close about 23.30. We went to our room and unpacked and were delighted that we had free use of the safe. We struggled to make it lock and had to ask reception to send someone up to help. An employee arrived and also struggled for half an hour but in the end between us got the safe to work. Unfortunately the safe wasn't attached to anything, just sitting on the shelf,so could be taken away if someone got into our room !!! The employees response was that there was a camera at reception and they would spot someone trying to walk away with the safe!!(Unless they stole our suitcase too !!). Had a lovely meal and walk into the centre and got back in time for a drink. At about 22.30 we got back to the bar, bought a drink, sat down and relaxed. We went up for another drink but the barman had already cashed up the till and said we couldn't have another drink, this was at just gone 23.00. In the early hours of the Tuesday morning we were awoken by the sound of banging and drilling. It was quite frightening to hear from 01.00 to 01.30 in the morning as we didn't know what was going on. We went to take the lift to breakfast but both lifts were out of order. After breakfast on the 9th floor whilst walking down the stairs we noticed that the second floor was closed off because work was going on. The stairs were covered with loose thin corrugated brown paper/cardboard and the hand rails were dirty. We complained to reception about the noise in the night, work ongoing and lack of lifts. I asked to be moved to a lower floor as walking up to the 7th floor(our room) was difficult because of my husband's asthma.(The lady on reception said she'd had to walk up to the 10th(') floor and she had asthma too. I sympathised but it didn't resolve the problem) She said that there were no free rooms. Over the next few days one lift was out of order continously and the other lift only worked some of the time. When we checked out we filled in a complaint form and have spent the last four weeks trying to have an explanation and an apology. We feel that the Hotel should have made people aware that work was ongoing in the Hotel. No effort was made to find us another room or to transfer us to another Ibis/Accor Hotel. Climbing up to the 7th floor several times a day, and the dust was not comfortable for my husband with his asthma. We have complained to Accor, wriiten 5 emails and spoken to 6 customer care agents. Nothing seems to be happening. In our discussion with one of the agents we discovered that the Hotel had had to apply to the local Council for permission to carry out work in the middle of the night. The Hotel did not tell customers that they may be disturbed during the night or have to walk up several flights of stairs. There were two lots of work ongoing-refurbishing on the 2nd floor and exterior work with scaffolding. The most annoying thing of all is that the Hotel have told Accor that they offered us an apology and compensation and THAT WE DECLINED IT !!! That is a complete lie and the most annoying thing is to be called a liar.
the service was good. but we came at time of renovation so only one little lift working . the breakfast was good. but sometimes we could hear the other guests in the room close to ours, so not very good soundproofing.
"First experience of Ibis Styles"
Although a frequent visitor to the Accor chain, this was my first time for the Styles brand. I was not disappointed. Funky colours. Hotel clean, warm and friendly staff. Location in easy reach of down town and near Metro so ideal for travellers not wishing to use a taxi to the airport. Breakfast on the top floor was typical continental. The view over Lisbon was excellent.
We decided to get the areobus from the airport at 3 50 euros each, we got off at Marquess Pombal which is about a ten minute walk. The beds in the hotel were large and comfy and the bathroom was very good. We had breakfast and this was cold buffet style but there was plenty to keep us happy, the ladies who work in the breakfast room are great and keep everything full and tables clean. Location was good for us walk into town will be lovely in the warmer months. The room was provided with a free safe which is a great idea. All the staff were friendly and helpful and although there was a bit of a problem with the lifts new ones are about to be installed. Loved our stay.
