"Very good location"
Location excellent for people who're visiting for the first time, very close to the metro and the famous boulevard Gracia, you can walk to many places. Staff very helpful and pleasant. The room is very comfortable and quiet. No Coffee or tea making facillities in the room especialy when the bar does not do take away coffees.
"Great location, OK hotel"
The main reason for selecting this hotel was the location, as we were travelling with older parents and one could not walk far. This hotel is just two roads back from Placa de Catalunya, so very convenient for the tourist buses and two metro stations. In fact, it was so convenient that we ended up taking the airport bus on arrival and return, which saved us about £70 compared to pre-booking airport transfers. The hotel is a little lacking in terms of a large reception or much in the way of facilities, but this seems to be a hotel used for people sight-seeing in Barcelona, and for that purpose it is a pretty decent choice. From check in, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had two rooms. The one I stayed in was for three of us, and it was a good size and had a large window looking out onto the front of the hotel. The other room (next door) was quite a bit smaller and the window looked into a courtyard, pretty dark. But the décor and furnishings were modern and clean. Our desk chair was broken, but we reported it and it was replaced the same day. Breakfast wasn't amazing, but we all managed to eat well. The cooked breakfast was what let it down, and the scrambled eggs were cold. But they will do you fried eggs on request. The toasters are VERY slow, but there is a god selection of fresh bread. I opted for cold meats and cheese, and definitely didn't starve. The staff at breakfast were also good, setting up tables specially for our party of 5. We did have an issue with the key card on one room, which meant that we needed it to be redone every day, but this was our biggest problem. But they don't have tea and coffee in the rooms, which was disappointing. There are coffee shops nearby you can pop to before going to breakfast, but I'm sure most people want a coffee before doing anything in the morning. If you are looking for a hotel in a very convenient location, this is definitely worth considering. Other hotels close by are the NH Hotel and Avenida Palace (which I stayed in about 18 years ago), but both are more costly options. I did read in one other review about a bar called El Nacional, which we decided to check out. It is just at the end of the road and turn right. It is really worth a look. I won't tell you about it, just go and see - you won't be disappointed. One other bit of info that might be useful, when looking to pre-book the tourist bus before our holiday (33 Euros for 2 days), I stumbled across a BCN travel card. This lets you choose from 1 - 5 days public transport. We went for 5 days at a cost of 30 Euros. Metro and buses were so easy to use, and the Barcelona bus web site lets you plan your journeys so easily, we decided not to use the tourist bus. So provided that you get a room with a window at the front, or you aren't too bothered about how bright your room is, this is a decent hotel and a good price in a good location.
"Nice exterior, good location."
I was traveling with a group. Room assignments were poorly done. Lots of attitude from the front desk. Okay breakfast although the food in the overflow area came out at 7 although the tables didn't open up until 8:30. No common area. No individual a/c.
"It was a useful place to stay"
On the whole, the hotel offers recently remodeled rooms and a nice central location; the staff are pleasant and friendly, too. Wifi is available in the rooms, so it is a good place to stay for work. My room did not offer the spectacular view in the image above; rather I looked into an alley, something which meant my room was dark all the time. That said, it was a nice surprise to walk out into the sunshine. I would advise against breakfast, however. There a re loads of little cafes around that serve lovely coffee. The breakfast was perhaps the most disgusting thing I've eaten to date when traveling for work: the eggs were thick, greasy and cold and another rather startling surprise on a sunny Tuesday morning. I would certainly recommend the hotel IF you are working and/or intend to be out, but if you're staying for more than a day, I would make sure you look at the room before you drop in your stuff.
