"Two nights it was perfect!"
My husband and I spent two nights here and we loved our stay. The rooms were clean and big compared to other European rooms on our trip we stayed in. The lounge area was decorated nice and the front desk were all very nice and attentive in helping with any of our needs. The location was perfect 5 min walk to all shops and restaurants but far enough that's it's still quiet area. Close to metro stop literally a stop right outside the hotel and a 10 min or less walk to train station. Awesome location and hotel. One of the best on our trip throughout Europe!!
"Great Location "
We did upgrade to a larger room since we were there for five days and were grateful that we did. We were walking distance from Marienplatz, the market, the Documentation Center and train station. We did not opt for the breakfast since it was pricey and there are so many great bakeries nearby. The people at the front desk were extremely friendly and helpful. The mini bar was fully stocked and inexpensive (1 euro per item). Would strongly recommend.
This hotel was positively recommended by a friend which we wish to share. This was our first visit to Germany and was to see the Munich Christmas markets for my birthday during a 3 night stay. We arrived on my birthday and I received a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine with a hand written birthday card with lovely comments in it and the following day had a fresh flower display. This was a very personal touch and highly regarded by me as anyone with a birthday in December will know how it can get overlooked because of the Christmas celebrations. All the staff we met were professional, friendly, polite and attentive. The room we stayed in was very spacious, immaculately clean, had plenty of storage facilities, coffee machine and very reasonably priced mini bar. The décor and feel of the hotel is traditional and Bavarian. Unfortunately we had overlooked booking the restaurant on my birthday but managed to get an evening meal in the bar (food and service were excellent). The bar area is small. The hotel is in a fabulous location. We got the train from the airport (signposted - go down a level) which was approximately 40 minute ride @ 11.20 euro each one way which you get from ticket machine (select language) No. S1 or S8 direct to Central Munich. The hotel is within walking distance from the main train station, numerous restaurants, coffee bars and Marienplatz and old market town (go right out of hotel - 10-15 minute walk). There is a Glockenspiel in city hall tower and there is a display at 11am & 12 noon. There is a supermarket few doors to left of hotel as is the Hop on bus just around the corner. We got Grand circle 48hr ticket @ 27 euro each, there is a smaller route at a reduced cost. The underground is vast with an array of food places and shops. There are numerous art galleries and museums. We visited Alte Pinakothek (Old Masters art gallery) @ 4 euros each which was well worth a visit. The Christmas markets met all my expectations and were lovely. We would love to return to Munich and revisit the Hotel Excelsior.
"Sheer pleasure! Don't miss this gem!"
This hotel is one of The Best. Before we even checked in Claudia in reception worked with us to find restaurants for Christmas and local information. When we did check in we were assisted by bellman Ikeel who went out of his way with the luggage, pillows, ice and information. When we checked out he actually took our luggage and went with us through the train station to help us board. We had room service four times and it was amazing. The phone answered right away by friendly staff and the orders delivered within 15-20 minutes. Sarah and all the house keeping staff also great. Andreas in reception was extremely professional, knowledgable and any requests we made were never too much, and we asked a lot! This is old world classy service from a beautifully run hotel. Oh, and don't miss the great buffet breakfast.
"Nice Place to Stay "
This hotel in in the center of Munich. You can walk to almost everything you would want to see and do. And if you do need a train or a bus. It's within a few yards of the hotel. Staff were kind and friendly. We ate breakfast in our room a couple of times. They sent so much food, we could save it for lunch or for the next morning. I'd recommend this place to anyone.
