Chose this hotel for parents special anniversary celebrations after reading reviews on Tripadvisor. Check in was fraught with issues despite me emailing in advance asking for good rooms for parents and an accompanying friend. Had paid to upgrade to a Sea view. Parents had disappointing side view and after being shown a couple of other rooms begrudgingly ended up accepting a Club room at an extra cost of over 400euros. I arrived in Spain the next day and went to visit and was appalled to hear of the extra cost. The other issue being that the friend could not use the club facilities unless she paid 200euros. \the 2 rooms had already cost over 3000euros so thought it was not on. I think the staff at reception thought we were pains and complaining for complaining's sake but my parents were upset and so was I. Luckily one reception staff member helped me and showed myself and my mum 2 alternate rooms....at the original cost. One of them was fine and what we had expected. 400 euros saved. The food was ok. We ate there a couple of times and the buffet choice was pretty good but nothing special. We had breakfast once which was good. The indoor pool was a pool in a conservatory with very poor changing facilities. It was also cold. There was a charge of 4euros to wear a swim cap if you didn't have your own. Guests using the pool walked through the hotel reception and lounge areas in towels and robes because of the poor facilities. Not good. All in all I think the Fuerte is average but nothing special and I am disappointed that my parents anniversary was not we thought it would be. Luckily we ate one evening at the Gran Melia Don Pepe and that is something special. My husband and I stayed at La Villa Marbella in Old Town..............totally different concept but far nicer! We won't be going back to the Fuerte Marbella
"Short Break in Marbella"
We spent 2 nights at the hotel. Location was excellent - on the beach / next to the promenade and a very short stroll from the old town. The hotel is top end 4*. We had a superior room overlooking the sea. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. Facilities in the hotel were excellent. We ate in the buffet restaurant for breakfast and dinner and all the meals were very good. Despite being February, the outdoor pool and surrounding area was very nice and relaxing when the sun came out. We would definitely return to the hotel.
Stayed in April 2016 and would highly recommend this Hotel Well appointed and comfortable rooms Very friendly and efficient staff Location and amenities excellent Have stayed here before and will certainly be returning
"Great reception staff"
On day 6 of a 14 day vacation. Staff have been very helpful with confirming excursions and even offered to get stamps and mail postcards. Now that the weather has improved, we look forward to many walks on the promenade and visits to Old Town, both of which are at the hotel's doorstep. Visited Gibraltar yesterday and are looking forward to a trip to Ronda. F
