"Excellent Location & helpful staff"
The Goldstar Resort is located a few minutes walk from the Promenade Des Anglais. We did not eat in the hotel. There are lots of places to eat in the locality & a super breakfast cafe Co-t Cafe which serve great breakfasts. We had a suite which meant our room on the 5th floor was really spacious. The reception staff were so helpful making sure we were armed with the correct bus information & tourist advice at all times. There is a small pool & sun terrace on the top floor.
"Well located property"
The Goldstar Resort is a well located property, as it is quite close to the train station and the ocean. We had a clean and comfortable large room that included a kitchenette, and there was a lovely roof top pool.
"Still pretty good"
We've been to this hotel previously but it was some years ago. Still pretty much as we found it before. Our 1 bedroom apartment was quite comfortable and well equipped. It's a tiny bit to the west of the town centre but still well positioned for the beaches, restaurants and train station. About 10 minutes by foot to the old town and 15 minutes to the port. We used the train station to get about down the coast as we don't find the Nice beaches comfortable. Cannes and Juan Les Pins are much more to our taste. We took most of our breakfasts on the promenade and beaches. Much better value and pleasanter. A few negatives about the hotel: - pool isn't that inviting as it's under cover and the sun-bathing area has no shade - hotel closed for dining from the end of August - one of the two lifts out of service for the last week of our stay; hotel staff didn't seem to care much about the fun and games this caused with residents getting in the lifts to go up by first going down and vice-versa - TV choices; OK people might not go on holiday to watch TV but there must be lots who could do with entertainment in English (especially in the evening after dinner) other than by CNN sometime in the day; in-house movies would have been good With regard to TV we ended up buying a small DVD player to attach to the hotel's TV and then buying/renting videos; there is a second hand video store in fact round the corner of the hotel.
"Great location but a bit dated"
We stayed here for 3 nights and the location is excellent, only a few blocks away from the Esplanade and also close to the main railway station. Being a suite hotel, the room is very spacious with a little kitchen area and the room was very clean. There is also parking underneath, which is a real plus in Nice. We did, however, have a few issues. Firstly, the internet was very unreliable, to the point of being unusable on some occasions. The breakfast was quite basic. Also, the bed was very uncomfortable and basically the room could have done with a bit of up-dating, and was missing basics like tissues and a toilet roll holder, however I thought it was good value for money, because Nice hotel prices are high.
Rooms were beautiful. Bar, Breakfast and Pool areas all felt a little awkward- that is the reason for 4 stars. Also, the items in the mini fridge were really overpriced. Walk down the block to the market and stock it yourself!!
