"Nice - not marvelous "
A grand hotel in structure, offering an upmarket, plush interior design. Staff, despite what I had in the the blogs prior to booking, were quite friendly & efficient. Breakfast, with a view to the Acropolis, was plentiful & fresh. The spa, with a small weight/running/ machines room, is excellent, no charge to hotel guests. In addition the spa boasts a pool (water is too cold for my liking) as well as a range of steam/sauna rooms. My room was adequate, smaller than I had expected, with a view of 'nothing' - the hotel advertises room views to Parliament Square. What I DID NOT appreciate: 1. Concerning English language TV options, apart from the endless recycled news, there is nothing to watch - pathetic in the year 2017. Clearly no hotel management attempt to ingratiate oneself with English speaking guests. 2. The add-on charges are endless: A) Hi speed internet, about another $12 per day. B) A movie in the room, albeit an old one, about another $12 (per movie) C) Use of the TV as an internet source, yet another +/- $12 D) Breakfast, at a cost of about $35 is outrageously scandalous - walk 5 minutes to an upmarket restaurant / coffee bar ( there are plenty ), will cost less than a $10! E) Bottom line, the add-on's are in my opinion, highway robbery!! 3. Prices charged within the hotel are ridiculously high; an example, nearly $10 for a small bottle of local beer. 4. In the room, I requested the evening turn-down service to replenish the 2 sachets of coffee I had found in the room upon check-in. The answer I would as given, ' no, we only supply this once, now you must order & pay via room service'..... crazy policy!! 5. Toiletries supplied in the bathroom are absolutely minimal. 6. No business centre per se, simply a computer to use. TIP: Good location, comfortable room, BUT eat & entertain away from the hotel, to the degree that you return to your room with drinks, nuts, etc., that you can purchase from a nearby supermarket, for evening/night snacks, at a quarter of the hotel's minibar rate. Recommendation to the hotel management : 1. Value your English speaking guests. 2. Charge an extra $25 per day per room BUT offer an inclusive service without fleecing guests with add-on's! 3. You want to keep your horribly high prices at the restaurants, cigar lounge, pool bar - fine, I get it. That's one way of keeping riff-raff away; but then offer hotel guests a 40% discount on non-room purchases, or your guests will simply congregate outside the hotel as they continually do. I spoke with 5 colleagues prior to reserving the room, whom have all stayed at this hotel, they all made this recommendation of entertaining oneself AWAY from the hotel due to its exorbitant & grossly exaggerated charges in the bars, restaurants of the hotel. Nonetheless, I had a comfortable stay, but left with a sense that I needed to have a good shower since we'd been 'legally pick-pocketed' by the add-on's & disproportionately high prices within the hotel.
"Stay here if you can"
This Hotel is fantastic! It is very well situated in the centre of town, in walking distance to the Acropolis and Plaka district, plus all the good shopping areas. The minute you walk into this hotel, you feel relaxed, from its 5 star service to the ambience of the place. The Day Spa down below is worth a visit with its herbal steam rooms and pool and the restaurant and bar on the top floor is also amazing for great views day and night of the city and the Parthenon. If you have one night to stay in Athens before the Greek islands, splurge and stay here, it is worth it. And, if you can't stay here, at least go for a cocktail on the top floor and enjoy the view.
"Room 602 - The best and largest patio I have ever seen"
We loved this hotel! The concierge and butler service was excellent!!!! Everything was excellent. We stayed over new years and watched fireworks from our huge patio over the Acropolis. Epic! The restaurant has excellent food and the breakfast was typical for a five-star hotel with the exception of no champagne. This is the place to stay in Athens. We loved it and Athens and will be back.
"Lovely and Luxury"
We stayed at this hotel after a luxury cruise and it was absolutely fabulous. I wasn't feeling very well and the Butler brought me some hot tea and some aspirin. The restaurant was fantastic, the butler service was amazing. I loved it it was close to everything. The concierge was extremely helpful in finding us great vegetarian restaurants. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
"Location and Luxury."
A lovely luxury property right on Syntagma Square. Pool deck with restaurant and bar, beautiful views of the Acropolis, your own patio overlooking both - and a rooftop restaurant that not only has great food and drinks, but a view that beats any in Athens. We loved our stay. Efharistó.
