You can't get a better location in Hamburg. The hotel is next to the underground station and opposite the dock. There are bars and restaurants directly opposite. The rooms are nice bit a bot on the small side. Can't comment on the food as we only stayed one night and we had to leave in the early hours before breakfast. The decor is very traditional. The only downside is the steps up to the hotel.
"Good hotel, expensive breakfast "
This hotel is in a great location close to the docks and the Hamburger Dom when it's in town. It's also in walking distance for miniature wonderland a must visit when in Hamburg. Staff are friendly and the rooms clean. However breakfast at 20 euros each is way over the top. We walked for a few minutes and got a lovely breakfast for less than 20 Euros for all 4 of us.
"Where to stay in Hamburg for three days."
This hotel has the best views of the harbor. We would definitely stay there again when visiting Hamburg. I noticed several business men and women also checking in at various times. We are glad we stayed there.
We climbed the tower to the cocktail bar at the top and were greeted by a very extensive menu from which we picked some delicious cocktails and enjoyed the lovely view of Hamburg harbour by night. Our waiter was a little eccentric but maybe that added to the fun evening.
"Romantic Europe... in a very wild way!"
I liked Hotel Hafen Hamburg, with some qualifications! This hotel is located on a hill above the busy River Elbe. It is actually three different buildings - an old classic hotel facing the river, a tower also facing the river, and a businessmen's hotel with views of a park. But BE CAREFUL with your room view - some see only an interior courtyard or a passageway looking at the building next door! They compensate by playing a live feed of the river view onto the TV screen - a distant 2nd place option. And my first room overlooked a homeless camp beneath a bridge - I looked out and got to see a couple of the residents enjoying their romantic open air lovemaking! (See photos!) When I asked they changed my room. The location is great, just above the Landsbrucken metro stop with magnificent views of the river; two blocks from the nightlife of the St. Pauli district; and easy walking to the downtown and Hafen museums. The staff is generally very helpful and the hotel and rooms are very clean. The original hotel is filled with old equipment from ships, including some not entirely appropriate bare-breasted carved lady mastheads. The breakfasts are an expensive 20 euros, but very delicious. There is a tower bar, with spectacular views. (See photo.) They have different room types and rates, based on what is happening in town. Sometimes the cheaper rooms are available on booking services and not from the hotel directly.
