Howard Johnson Plaza Florida Street enjoys a privileged location in the heart of Buenos Aires, in the famous Florida pedestrian street, just 30 meters from the traditional Plaza San Martin, 35 minutes from Ezeiza International Airport, 15 minutes from the national Airport and few blocks from the city's financial and economic center and most of tourist attractions.

It's a 4 star-hotel for the standards of Argentina. The first impression I got when I arrived at the reception and lobby was of a nostalgic sentimental trip to the 80's.Our room was big enough and clean. The personal was polite and the breakfast was good for the Argentinean style - they eat more toasts (the guests can make them at the moment, "medialunas" ( a kind of pastry/sweet bread), cakes and cookies so, forget baguettes and the variation of bread you can find in European 4 star-hotels and be open to experience the Argentinean way.The hotel is located in a gallery at the pedestrian street Florida, what is very practical for being close to the shopping center Galerias Pacifico and other attractions you can reach on foot.
Our impression of this hotel was overall good. I don't agree with saying that the staff didn't speak any English, as the staff of the frontline desk speaks English very well. No, the maid doesn't speak English, but that's not a problem. They were all very friendly and helpful. The comments about the noise of the air-con unit are true, my husband is very allergic to buzzing sounds and even when we put the air-con off, the noise remained. But also here the staff was very understanding and helpful, they offered us another room, they gave us the opportunity to listen first in that other room if the noise was less. It seems all over the building, it's not bothering me, but if you can't stand buzzing sounds, it's annoying. In the end, another staff member showed us a trick to put the noise off, so the problem was solved. Yes, there are a lot of money-changers in Florida street, and at the entrance of the hotel, but they wouldn't bother you if you shook your head, and after a few days, the guys in front of the hotel recognised us and just greeted us. They're not aggressive. Furthermore, our room was clean, perhaps a bit too dark. We've been in Howard Johnson La Cañada in Córdoba as well, and that was much more modern, although in HJ Florida the TV was a huge flatscreen TV with a variety of channels, but mainly (99%) in Spanish only. We've missed an English version of CNN. All in all, I would recommend this hotel. If the taxi drops you at Plaza San Martín, it's a less than a one-minute walk to the entrance of the hotel.
"Average stay, terrible customer service"
I've paid for two rooms (3 adults and 2 small children), when it could've been only one room but hotel refused to accept it... regardless, the room was OK, good cleaning and the cleaning personnel was very polite. Breakfast had not many options, everyday we had to wait for backfills of coffee, milk, etc, but quality was OK. Somewhat hard to to find a seat though, seems that the area is very undersized. The hotel entrance stays at the Florida Street, which is closed for cars, therefore be prepared to carry all your luggage on non-flat street and also take care of your children at the same time..... The room has an old air conditioning/heating system which is past due to renew, therefore it makes a lot of noise. Even when you decide to turn it off, the noise keeps going on. The worst experience though was with the front desk. Not only the staff didn't seem to make and effort and provide good customer service overall, but also they created an awful situation for me and my family. In the day we'd leave, I booked a cab from the hotel to EZE airport. I requested them to book a minivan as we were in five passengers and I was in front of the attendant when he called the company and booked it for me at 6pm and at a given price, which I agreed to. When I left the room with family and bags for checkout, I was told that there were two cars (!!!) waiting for me by the next block (remember that the street doesn't allow cars and it was raining just to make it easier...). When I asked why there were two cars, the front desk person said it was because we were in five. Then I had to explain the whole van reservation story, he tried to confirm again and realized they - THE HOTEL - messed up with reservations, so the van would come later and for ANOTHER room and not mine. Then I asked what could he do to fix it because with two cars I'd have to split the family, with two small children, and would need to pay twice as much for the ride. He said the only thing he could do was to CANCEL the two cars and let ME FIGURE OUT A WAY to take my family to the airport using public transportation. I couldn't be more frustrated. I headed to the two taxis and, realizing that it was a terrible mistake made by the HOTEL, the taxi drivers managed to talk to their company, give me a discount and then their company would try to settle things down with the incompetents from the hotel. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.
"A fantastic central location."
A well situated very reasonably priced hotel. Clean and modern with free wi-fi. Free buffet breakfast with a huge choice of cereal bread, pastries etc...a great find. Everything was easily accessible from the hotel and taxi services are frequent and inexpensive. We managed to also organise a late checkout for a minimal charge which worked perfectly for us with small children
"Don't waste your money on this hotel"
There was nothing to like about this hotel It is not accessible by road. A good 400 meters. That means, every time, you have to carry your bags from the taxi drop off to the lobby via a tiny gallery. Five guys keep standing at the gallery entrance, offering currency exchange at parallel rates. The breakfast is terrible. Definitely not worth a penny! The coffee is like drinking colored hot water without any taste. The juice and yoghurt- probably the cheapest quality available in whole of Argentina! Eggs were like having toasted liquid bread. Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! When I asked at the reception to extend my stay as there might be a change of plan, they asked me to vacate the room as the hotel was oversold. Technically, Inhouse guest has priority over new incoming guests. Bedsheets are of polyester fabric. Not very comfortable. Towels are yellowish. Hot water trickles, the shower head doesn't have that smooth flow for a good hot shower. And it is at the end of Florida street. Becomes deserted in the evening. Elevators are slow. Internet is poor in the rooms. Stay st your own risk
