"Fantastic hotel, amazing staff, very sophisticated."
An absolutely beautiful hotel. We only stayed for 2 days, as it was a bit of a splurge for us. The staff were fantastic, very helpful, gave us maps and directions. Allowed us to leave our luggage after we had checked out, as we had a late flight. The room was huge. We were on the 9th floor, which has a balcony which runs around the hotel. The bed was gigantic, and very comfortable. The bathroom was beautiful. Big towels, bath robes and slippers provided. And the mini-bar was free. The only slight let down was that we had room service. But it took over an hour to arrive, and it was around 10pm when we ate. The burger is also served very pink, and was slightly cold in the middle. It turned out that the next day, the restaurant was closed due to a water leak, so that may be why it took a long time. It is not located in a particularly nice/fun part of the city. You can walk to the main bit, and the U-bahn is very close by.
"Great place to stay"
Unique place to stay. Great architecture. Room was very hot - no air conditioning. Service was just ok - nothing special. When booking was made advised of the special celebration - nothing was mentioned of this which was a little disappointing for a hotel of this distinction.
This place was fabulous. It's a very unique hotel, and very nicely appointed. The staff is outstanding and very accommodating. We stayed on the eighth floor, which has a walkway around the exterior, and makes for beautiful views of the city.
We wanted to treat ourselves to an extraordinary hotel experience and quickly singled out Wassertürm and the junior suite. That was a mistake. Firstly, the junior suite was not as we thought on the top floors (as we thought being much more expensive than the ordinary rooms), but closer to the buildings around and thus having no view what so ever. Further there was approximately 30 degrees outside and no air condition except for a ridiculous fan by the bed. And as the room only had one window it became extremely hot in the evening and night. The room and bathroom in itself was nicely decorated with a designer’s touch, but quite dated. The sofa had this bulk where people had been sitting and making it very uncomfortable to sit any other place than the middle, and the bathroom had scratches, spots and marks from the many years of wear. That made a rather unclean impression, even though that was not the case. The free mini bar was a nice touch tough. And I must say it felt really special sleeping in a water tower with the implications regarding history, spirit and unusual shapes and structures. The most disappointing aspect was however the staff, or more precisely one of the staff. Most of them were friendly and very much helpful, but not the man in reception the night we arrived. We had then been driving for almost 20 hours and had planned to park the car at a Park and Ride place (as the hotel was charging the unbelievable amount of 25 EUR per night) on the outskirts of town. When we arrived the PR-place was closed even though it stated 24/7 opening on the internet. Being quite frustrated and tired we called the hotel to ask if they knew of any open parking place in the vicinity. Obviously we could see a certain rudeness in asking such a question to the hotel, but we were completely exhausted and even the distance to the hotel was almost 30 minutes of driving. But I was not able to put my question to the receptionist as he constantly interrupted me to give an answer to the question he thought I was asking (the direction to the hotel) and only repeated “find a taxi, find a taxi”. When I finally was able to communicate our problem and ask if he knew of a place he quickly and very indifferent answered no. Nothing more. I must emphasize that the answer itself was not a surprise and we only called the hotel as a last resort, my negative reaction derives from the very rude and unsympathetic manner the answer was given. Highly unprofessional.
"Wonderful stay at the unique Hotel Im Wasserturn"
The building itself is really unique and interesting. We dined in the Michelin starred HImmel un Aed on the first night and really enjoyed the experience. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the views amazing and the atmosphere relaxed. We enjoyed all 6 courses in our menu.
