"Unreliable and not accommodating"
I had booked the hotel and the hotel reneged on its agreed price by unilaterally cancelling my booking (it was a good deal). I was forced to book elsewhere late and at a higher price. Will not be giving my business to this chain anymore.
"My home away from home"
Have been there for years and had a gorgeous stay as usual! Hotel is close to the Champs-Elysés, 5 minutes walk, as well as metro station (located on the Champs-Elysées). Got an upgrade into a beautiful suite just under the roof (I am Ambassador). The bathroom is huge with tub, walk-in shower, towel heater, and even a big red sofa which is actually very convenient. Room is well appointed with Nespresso machine, minibar, and even cocoa (excellent taste, trust a swiss opinion...). Enjoyed the M64 restaurant for breakfast and one night for dinner (gastro). Staff is great, very attentive and efficient, and always welcoming. Can't wait to go back.... to my parisian home!
"Last minute Birthday Trip for my Wife to Paris"
Wanted to take my wife on a trip for her birthday. Ironically was cheaper to travel (from FL) to Paris than about any large city in US. Most likely due to it being Thanksgiving weekend. Wanted to stay near the Champs and Eiffel Tower. We had some "challenges". Our bags were lost by Air France, mine arriving 36 hour later and hers not until the night before we left. That all being said the staff at the Intercontinental Paris-Avenue Marceau were OUTSTANDING!! From the moment we arrived they went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. They showed rare concern for our missing luggage. Constantly calling on our behalf. delivering immediately upon arrival. Checking to see if they could do anything. They took calls for us (as our cell didn't have service in France) Relaying messaged, etc. They room itself was a little small in our opinion but certainly adequate. Clean and lovey facility. Concierge was always ready to assist. One truly amazing feature as our room was provided with a local cell phone with access to Google maps, internet, calls out (called my mom in the US from the top of the Eiffel Tower!!) and Facebook!!. All for FREE. Never had this before and made the trip very special and more like traveling at home than abroad. If you are one of those that make the comment that "French do not like Americans". You obviously have not stayed at here. I have travelled to over 30 countries and numerous hotel stays but can sincerely and without reservation say that the staff here at InterContinental Paris-Avenue Marceau was the very BEST I have ever experienced. Can not thank you enough!
"Great Location / Quiet Overall / Friendly Staff"
We just returned to NYC from a 6-night stay. Although some of the other reviews complain of small rooms, views, etc. we felt it was perfect for our Paris visit. We did not eat in the restaurant or use the facilities, but we really appreciated the location, how the staff made us feel at home, and the quiet, clean, well-appointed room - with plenty of space for our needs. If you are looking for fancy and overstated luxury, then this hotel is not for you. If you would like a super-friendly/warm, extra clean, hotel in a great location then I highly recommend them. We would definitely stay there again when in Paris.
We stayed here for one night, and although I'm sure I could find something small to complain about, our stay was fantastic. Starting with the check in, we were greeted by a very pleasant member of the staff who went out of her way to try and make sure all our needs were accommodated. She did an excellent job explaining the features of the hotel and the room, including a device called Handy (basically a Samsung Galaxy) which is offered complimentary as part of your room rate. It gives free local calls, as well as free calls to limited countries (USA, China and UAE being amongst them). Google Maps was preloaded, along with unlimited data. This was amazingly convenient as tourists in a country where English is not the spoken language. Although the room was on the small side, this is something I've been told to expect in Europe. The bed was comfortable. I checked out the following morning, and happened to mention how convenient the handy device was, and told the front staff I wish I had something similar to explore Paris with for the same day. They said that since I was planning on leaving my bags there, they'd be happy to let me take the Handy with me, and I could return it in the evening. Amazing! I look forward to staying here again next time I'm in Paris.
