"Miss-leading and mean spirited."
Whilst the Hotel Kamp has a great location and an interesting legacy, we felt it relied too much on these and could have tried much harder to maintain its status and loyalty especially as it is no longer is an SPG hotel with its associated benefits. Of particular disappointment to us was the fact that the spa and sauna complex are closed for 3 months, however this was not made clear on their English website whatsoever. Whilst planning a romantic winter break in Helsinki, access to a fabulous spa and sauna complex was our primary consideration to us and was the deciding factor in our hotel choice. What was more disappointing was that when I raised the issue with reception at pointed out it was not in their website, the receptionist had little interest and no apology was made. I also felt their booking site was deceptive. The site encourages one to book directly to avail of benefits such as a welcome drink and a free upgrade. In our experience the drink didn't appear and when asked apparently as we had a breakfast inclusive package we did not warrant the same welcome. We were then assured we had an upgraded room, however the outlook was over an internal courtyard and the roof of a shopping centre - as we had booked, nothing more. Whilst this was not a major issue for us - why make such a big offer and then not honour it. All in all our experience was as expected for any 5 star hotel but no more. As this hotel,is the most expensive in Helsinki, I suspect better quality and service can be achieved elsewhere with a spa at a lower price.
I love this hotel. It's truly classy and so stylish. The food is out of this world too. Beautiful rooms and exceptional service. I stayed 2 nights and cannot wait to go again. Great for any occasion and for business or pleasure.
"Excellent hotel in a very central location"
I spent two nights here with my family at the tail-end of a holiday in Finland (went to Ivalo to catch the Northern Lights). As we were a family of three, I booked a Junior Suite with an extra roll-away bed. We had an excellent stay and I cannot fault this hotel in any way. The Junior Suite was of a very decent size and extremely comfortable, the staff were very friendly, helpful and obliging and the hotel was very well placed. We also ate at both the hotel Brasserie as well as the Asian restaurant, Yume. Both were excellent and, as a wine lover, I was able to find some great bargains in the hotel's main wine list. This is the place to stay if you are spending any time in Helsinki.
"Great stay, great property, great service, great location"
Room was comfortable, relatively spacious with bathtub (and green rubber ducky). Sadly unlike at the Ritz Carlton, you couldn't bring the rubber ducky home. They sell it for EUR12. Bed was also comfortable with thick duvets. Bottle water was also provided. Location was fantastic, right smack in the centre of town. Service staff were also excellent and the front desk were almost intuitive in terms of their service level. Property is also a very classically historic building. Breakfast was also interesting, with some attempts to vary the menu daily. I also tried horse salami for the first time on the breakfast menu. Great stay to end off our three weeks trip.
"Comfortable luxurious hotel with a fantastic location"
Generally a well located hotel has very small rooms and claustrophobic receptions but Hotel Kamp is not only well located but also has luxurious rooms and bathrooms. I Loved the amenities provided in the bathroom. Also loved the breakfast buffet. The staff especially front desk was very helpful. Would like to mention Andre here who also suggested good places for sightseeing and shopping. If in Helsinki again would stay here again!
