"Charm and luxury in Helsinki"
We had a one night stopover in Helsinki on our way from Gatwick to Rovanemi to experience an Arctic Circle Christmas. Our flight was five hours late leaving due to fog, and our late afternoon arrival and morning departure meant that our time in the Hotel Kamp was brief. But we loved it all. The gorgeous big Christmas tree in the foyer, the charming staff and warm greeting set the perfect tone. We had reserved two rooms, travelling as an adult family and both rooms were spacious, clean and well appointed. Fluffy beds, big spacious bathrooms and plenty of towels, pillows and amenities. The only problem was the Wi-Fi connection which was dodgy. As we run our own business in Australia, a good Wi-Fi signal and ease of operation is always high on our list. The breakfast before our departure was delicious, with seasonal pastries, more charming staff and good coffee. I will come back to Helsinki to spend more time in this delightful city and enjoy the comforts of Hotel Kamp.
"Refined elegance, yet with a comforting sense of home about it"
This hotel ticks pretty much all the boxes - location is first-rate, rooms are extremely well-appointed (with one small reservation - see below), and personnel throughout are attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming in the manner of much more "intimate" boutique hotels. It deserves all the plaudits, not least for managing to dissolve the clichéd perception - as THE premier five-star hotel in the city and in Finland generally - of being stuffy and somehow overblown. It's actually an eminently likeable place, with a relaxed, assured vibe to it that tells you the staff KNOW what they are doing and they don't have to make a big song-and-dance about it. It sort of purrs along like a Rolls Royce, though you know it has power aplenty under the hood to meet all requirements if necessary. We took an executive room, which also offers access to the sanctuary of the Upper Lounge (an alternative venue for breakfast and for complimentary canapés and cava in the afternoon). The room was spacious and left nothing to be desired except an annoying lack of electrical plugs beside the bed: today's guests do tend to have an arsenal of electrical devices with them and it would be nice to be able to charge the phone or tablet up overnight AND to be able to access it from the bed, rather than having it on a desk halfway across the room. I find it hard to believe I would be the first to comment on this. The present incarnation of the hotel dates from 1999, but rooms have since been refurbished, and it's a little odd that this "electrical" aspect has not been noticed. A lovely bathroom and first-rate sound insulation were also much appreciated. Comfortable, elevated king-sized bed. The place just oozes unobtrusive class. Breakfast was also excellent, though the hotel was quite well-occupied on the day we stayed, and the Brasserie filled up to the point of a line forming outside. Staff coped well enough, but it was a bit of a squeeze. If you want comfort and understated luxury, look no further. Highly Recommended - for what it IS, and not just for the illustrious history and the famous names who have slept here.
"5 days in Helsinki "
The hotel is very good offering great confort right in the center of town near the main restaurants and museums. Spacious rooms and very nice and helpful staff. Highly recommended. If you book well in advance you would benefit from special offers and deals. Breakfast is normally including and offer a big open buffet. If not included go across the street just opposite to the cafe where you would have very fresh Finnish cinemun buns and open fresh sandwiches or soups.
"EXCELLENT IN EVERY WAY"
Just returned from three night stay. I cannot praise this hotel highly enough. Everything was just lovely. The hotel staff were exemplary, the room beautiful, food terrific. The whole experience was superb. My wife and and I were very sad to leave - it was like leaving the home of your very best friends. We will be back - there is no doubt. By the way, the hotel location is perfect too.
"Most cosy and warm hotel in Finland"
Wonderful hotel. Very warm and stylish in design and decor. Very modest building from outside, but absolutely everything is great inside. Location is very central, on the square just few steps far from main Mannergeim strasse. Perfect service, great food. I've stayed in a few 5* hotels in Helsinki, but this one is nothing to compare (probably not very good for big groups)
