I've stayed here a couple of times when work related events have finished late (it's a few minutes walk from BCU). Staff are always friendly and helpful, the rooms are high quality and it has a decent on site restaurant. It's a 10 minute walk from New Street and the city centre and 2 minutes from Moor Street Station.
"Consistent high standards. "
Me and my partner stayed for my birthday this weekend and it's our fourth stay at the hotel. Things don't change here. The staff are fantastic, quality of the hotel is to a high standard and the suite we stayed in was really spacious and luxurious. Prior to leaving on the Sunday morning we made a reservation to return in the summer for a 5th time and benefited from a great deal by booking direct with the hotel. Would not discourage anyone from staying here.
"First impressions good but......"
My daughter and I stayed 2 nights in hotel La Tour for a shopping weekend. First impressions were good, staff very welcoming and helpful at check-in. Found our room on the fourth floor - a city double. At first we thought we only had 1 bath towel and 1 single, strange when two people have booked the room! Just as we were going to ring down for some more we found them in the cupboard!! Strange place to keep towels. We tried to sort out the safe but couldn't get it to work, nor the air conditioning either so we phoned down to reception for some help. Someone came quite quickly, sorted out the safe but couldn't do the air conditioning. At this point we were going out to dinner so we left them to sort it out while we were out. On our return the room was very warm and the air conditioning still not working. Rang reception to be told it couldn't be fixed and maintenance didn't work at the weekends so they would move us if we wanted. Yes please!!! So 10.30pm found us packing our cases and moving rooms. Same floor and another city room. Slept well. On using the shower in the morning we found that it leaked under the glass screen onto the bathroom floor and the toiletries were half empty!! We also discovered the night before that the sink tap leaked!!! The duvet cover also had a huge rip in it. Not the sort of thing you expect from a 4* hotel! Maybe someone is not checking the rooms thoroughly enough. We spoke to reception on our way out about all the problems and again because maintenance don't work at the weekends all they could do was move us. Now being moved twice was a but much and no mention of a bottle of wine in the room or an upgrade was mentioned to soften the blow! So Saturday morning saw us moving into our third room (having only arrived the night before). All seemed fine with this room except on trying to unlock the door to leave on Sunday morning we found we were locked in. My daughter after a few minutes managed to free the lock and get us out. My thoughts immediately turned to thank goodness there hadn't been a fire in the night - how scary that would have been!! La Tour, you need to thoroughly check your rooms and make sure everything is up to scratch otherwise people like us will not return a second time!,
"You will not be disappointed "
Very welcoming reception staff, rooms immaculate and finished to a high standard. Open planned bar area with plenty of seating. WiFi signal strong. Car park arrangement is a bit odd. If driving, arrive at the front , drop off luggage and staff will open an entrance to secure open parking just over the other side of walkway.
"Revolving hotel entrance Doors!!"
Stayed here for 3 weeks on business and found the hotel to be of a very high standard. The most annoying thing of the whole experience was the rotating doors at reception... Breakfast was fabulous with amazing choice. Rooms comfortable and staff extremely helpful. Will return !
