"Not my first time going, possibly my last! "
So, firstly, I've been here before via an offer on Secret Escapes. After having a wonderful time, me and my partner decided to go back whilst visiting Birmingham. Before arriving, I'd arranged via email with the hotel for petals on the bed, champagne in the room and chocolates. We arrived and I found it weird that I wasn't charged for the extras, but assumed they would charge the card and didn't want to say something in front of my partner. On getting up to the room, nothing. As we were also having issues with the Bluetooth on the media hub, I went down to reception to find out about the extras. Turned out that no one read my email confirming what I wanted from a week before. They asked if I still wanted them and I said yes, and to bring them up to the room at 7pm and I'd make sure we were out. At around 5:30pm, someone knocked on the door with them in her hand asking If she could put them in the room! I wasn't impressed and just lucky I answered the door whilst my partner was in the shower. Also on arrival, a fire alarm test happened around 10 minutes after checking in. The staff on reception didn't mention it and I called down to ask what was happening before then going down about the extras. Media centre Bluetooth. On arrival, we found out that the Bluetooth wasn't working, and 3 different members of staff ended up coming to our room to take a look, in the end they gave us a Bluetooth speaker which they'd put a reserve on my debit card until Checkout because of an issue with the room! Whilst waiting for the staff to swap cables in the tv and turn off power to the room to restart the media hub, I also noticed quite a lot of dust in the grooves on the bedside table. Not what I want when paying quite a lot! Another annoyance was the fact that the water in the shower ended up coming outside and into the rest of the bathroom. Meaning we had to have a towel on the floor at all times, absolutely soaking. One minor bit of feedback we had was that the duvet had no colour on it and was just white. I actually checked that the duvet cover was on because I wasn't sure. It was and I was surprised, a little bit of colour would have made the bed look a lot nicer! Onto the positives, the reception staff were friendly and even though the receptionist I spoke to was the one who I was emailing beforehand about the extras, they were helpful. The room was nice, however certainly should have been better for the price. I don't see us staying there again now, when you pay for a nice hotel you expect the little details to be there. It wasn't here. However, the first time we went (a few years ago now) we had a lovely time. Maybe this was just a one off... But it's stopped us going again.
My boyfriend surprised me for my birthday with a weekend away to Birmingham. We both loved the hotel. The Reception area is beautiful with a tree made out of fairy lights, quirky chairs and lighting. The staff on the desk were very helpful and quick in checking us in. The only downside was the parking for the hotel is £15 however there is a car park on Albert street £12.50 for 24 hours. The room was lovely with a TV comfortable king size bed and a very clean and well designed bathroom. We ate out at The Original Patty man- 100% would recommend a visit. Then came back to the hotel for their 24 hour bar. would stop again.
"Lovely hotel, great location."
Stayed for one night. Friendly staff. Located very close to Bullring shopping centre. Parking close to hotel. Hotel is very modern and smart. Would stay here again. Not to far from airport for a pretty flight stay as we did. Nice bar area.
"Comfortable and well situated"
Stayed overnight following our office Christmas party, held in the hotel. Comfortable room, very well appointed - all as you would expect from this class of hotel. Good service on the whole; I had a long wait to get served at the bar, but the barman was so apologetic when he realised he had been ignoring me that I really can't hold that against him! The lady in charge of breakfast made a point of referring to me by name rather than my room number, which I thought was a nice touch. I would love to stay here with my husband sometime for a luxury break, and try the restaurant. The hotel is vey well situated for central Birmingham amenities, and is very close to Moor Street Station. It is not so easy to get to by car, but no worse than you would expect for a city centre hotel. I believe the hotel has arrangements with local car parks, security always being a concern in a city.
This hotel has some parking I don't think that was on it's website, it's important as parking can be difficult in Birmingham. The hotel itself was very clean, staff were pleasant and helpful but not always trying to sell to you. A nice change from some places. Breakfast was very varied and suited us both. Not at all noisy in our room even the aircon was whisper quiet. Over all very good, recommended.
