"Three days in Dubrovnik"
We had a great experience at Hotel Lapad. Staff was very helpful. Enjoyed our room with balcony. Breakfast was included, and was very good. Nice buffet, and omlettes to order. About 30 minute walk to Old Town. Close to port.
"Great base for visiting Dubroknik"
Had a great time here. Lovely location next to harbour and close enough to walk or get bus into old Dubrovnik. Food was very nice and buffet style so children could experiment with new meals. Ice cream was available on request at no extra cost but we only discovered this on last day. Dubrovnik itself is a lovely place to visit and this hotel was perfect for us to explore from. Would highly recommend.
Bedroom is very modern, clean, tidy and enough space to move around comfortably. The bed was absolutely rock hard, I didn't feel like I slept properly because I couldn't get comfortable. The cleaning staff came in everyday and kept our room tidy, clean and fresh they were always smiling and happy to see us which was nice they clearly take great pride in their jobs. The hotel is not an 'adults only' but if you have children keep in mind there is absolutely nothing for them to do not only in the hotel but location is not ideal for kids. The road where the hotel is located has no footpaths, traffic is quite busy during the day and there is nothing to stop you from falling into the harbour. The number 6 bus goes past the hotel every 15 minutes which will take you to the old city which I highly recommend visiting, beautiful place. You can buy tickets on the bus but its cheaper to buy them from the Tiasks located around Dubrovnik. There is minimal entertainment at the hotel, two nights we stayed there were some gentlemen playing live music but they didn't stay long. It would have been nice to see some more live entertainment, we got very bored in the evenings. The bar was nice and clean but the hotel could do with a sofa area or somewhere to just sit and chill that's not in the bedroom with out getting pestered to buy a drink. I read so many reviews from this hotel before booking and there were many fantastic comments on the delicious food. I don't know if it was because we went in October and it was slightly out of season but we found the food menu very limited with very little changes. The food was always 'warm' and never hot which was quite disappointing. I had chicken soup one night and that was beautiful I went back for a second bowl. We were half board so obviously didn’t get drinks included however we were shocked to find that when we sit down for our evening meal we were expected to pay roughly £2 for a small bottle of water. When we go to restaurants in the UK its common to be given a free jug of water with your meal but not at hotel lapad. Drinks were what I would consider expensive at the hotel. The Thomson rep was really lovely, I can't remember her name but when I needed to see a doctor she told us what to do and where to go we were very grateful for all her help. Most staff were friendly, one member of staff in particular was miserable and abrupt. Its really important that Hotel lapad take this on board when I say this.. It is NOT polite for staff to take your order by saying 'yes please' abruptly. I know there is a language barrier but a simple 'good evening, may I take your drinks order please' would be so much more polite. A simple smile would have gone a long way. Those two points need addressing as soon as possible. All in all its a lovely hotel and we had a really wonderful holiday, but I wouldn't return.
"2 day short stay"
Room good, food plain fare but nonetheless good also but stick to the buffet arrangements. Airport transfers can be tricky as hotel driver unreliable. If you know the geography of the town get the bus.
We had a great time at this hotel. The room was comfortable, food plentiful and enjoyable and staff friendly and helpful. About a 10 minute bus ride from the old City - buses are regular and not expensive. Walk takes about 45 minutes. It is also possible to walk to the other side of the Lapad peninsular in about 20 minutes. As the hotel is away from the centre it is quiet
