"Great location, great staff and good value"
Biarritz is a very attractive town in the delightful Basque country and as such it is crowded with both people and cars. The downside is that parking is at a premium and the fist thing the visitor to the Hotel must accept is that there is no car park on the property and no roadside that offers door access. As such one parks directly under the hotel (always lots of space during our visit) and pays £15 per night of your stay. Then there is the task of carrying up four flights of stairs ones baggage. I should add that the elevator provides access to all the floors of the car park bar the hotel entrance level. There ends the downside but DO NOT ALLOW that to detract from what the hotel offers. It is centrally situated with stunning views of the Atlantic and the acrobatic surfers. All rooms face the sea, some offer balconies and all are well equipped. It is spotlessly clean and the staff are so obliging, nothing seems to cause them a problem. The other fact that is quite rare is that the entire operation works in the most efficient manner without any obvious input from (at least visible) senior management, everyone we encountered looked so young yet were so competent. English is spoken without request and with a smile. If advice was required a suite would be worth booking as the space in the standard room is a little limiting, typical French maybe'
"Great Location on the Sea Front"
This hotel has a great location, right in the middle of the town looking out across the beach. It's only 10 minutes from the airport and after that, you can explore the whole town by foot. It's a charming hotel, not too large and having a friendly atmosphere. The restaurant is top notch with a really wonderful menu. I went for the fish as we're at the seaside, but they have a great selection of French dishes.
"Just what you need"
This is your typical French upper market hotel. Limited amount of, but spacious rooms, most, if not all, overlooking the ocean. The staff is selected not only for their looks bu also for their friendliness and they serve an excellent breakfast, which can be eaten on the terrace outside overlooking the "place Bellevue" and the ocean.
"A relaxing holiday"
This is a lovely small hotel, overlooking the sea in a pedestrian area. The car parking issues did not effect us as we had a taxi to and from the airport. The reception staff were very helpful and had fluent English. We were upgraded to a suite, which had a lounge area down five steps from the bedroom, with views of the ocean. The bathroom was modern and clean. The only small issue was that water splashed from the modern sinks. We had breakfast at the restaurant and were able to sit out on the Terrace. The breads, cheers and fruit were fine but the eggs and bacon was passable. We also had dinner and I had one of my best French meals, with a meal of lemon sole. We went back again but the sole was not as good so there must be more than one cook! A great location to explore the beaches, market and to go further afield. Families may be more suited to a larger hotel.
"Details that makes my stay below acceptable "
The hotel is situated in a wonderful location in the city center of Biarritz with a unique view on the ocean and "Grande plage". The rooms are wonderfully decorated and very comfortable. Bathrooms are very well designed with first class equipment. BUT during the 5 days I spent there I was offered one set ONLY of amenities ( soap, shampoo, body lotion etc...). When I understand those don't have to be replaced when not used or empty it is more surprising that a replacement set is never available. Hence I had in 5 days only one small soap and had to choose between washing my hands or using it to shower and to save shampoo for 5 days not to miss any during my time in the bath room... The more amazing came when finally the 3rd days I let open without the plug the body lotion expecting to find a replacement in the evening, but guess what in the evening the little flask was voluntary closed and repositioned EMPTY... So I decided to call the receptionist which after I explained her my issue said that those amenities were supposed to be replaced daily... Amazingly when I returned in the evening of the 4th day, I found on the floor outside in front of the door a spare body lotion, but off course no other replacements for soap, shampoo... I am not sure if this a management instruction or initiative from cleaning personnel but this is disappointed not to say unacceptable in a 4 th stars hotel. Be aware too that there are no parking available in high seasons as the hotel as no reserved slots in the municipal parking in front of hotel. Bear in mind too that if you carry heavy luggages there are no lift to access from parking last floor to the hotel .
