My wife and I were out for a night on the town and decided to stay at HLGT. Considering the nightly rate we were very underwhelmed by our experience. Upon arrival no one offered to assist with our luggage, nor did anyone open the door for us. Normally I wouldn't care about stuff like this, but again, considering the nightly rate this should be standard practice. Once we got into our room we immediately noticed the thermostat was set to 16C. We tried to adjust it and make our room less of a meat locker. We called the front desk and asked for maintenance to help us warm up our room. No one showed up and more than 90 minutes later, we simply left for our dinner engagement. A little later that night we watched some TV before going to sleep. The digital service was awful and the TV constantly pixelated and froze. Not what you'd expect from a $500 per night room. When we awoke the next morning we could barely breath because of the room being so dry and still. The pillows were terrible and the room was still freezing. The best part of our stay was the service at the breakfast buffet. The staff were attentive and professional. Overall if you are going to spend $500-$1000 for a hotel room, stay somewhere else.
"Cosy, chic and memorable"
Never thought I would want to redesign my own bedroom to resemble a hotel room but well... we did after staying at the Le Germain. Chic design, super comfortable bed, all cosy and perfect. When we first entered the room the radio was on this jazz radio station that topped it all off. And the coffee machine in the lobby made one of the best mochas I ever tasted.
"A great experience!"
Great location, friendly staff, chic design, delicious breakfast and super comfortable beds, everything at the Germain was perfect! I would go back anytime. I warmly recommend it for a unique and personalized experience.
The rooms are beautiful, comfortable, well-equipped. The staff in the dining room, front desk, cleaning service were so friendly and helpful. The concierge, Cindy, went way out of her way to help me with a lost mobile telephone .. . I will never forget her kindness. The next time I am in Canada, I will be sure to book a Germain Hotel!
"Very Nice Boutique hotel"
The hotel is small and in a good downtown location down a small street. Positives: staff are friendly, attentive without being overbearing. Hotel thorough the evening is quiet and sexy. Continental breakfast is nice. They will make you a nice cappuccino rather than a plain coffee without charging more. Negatives: currently (Dec 2016) there is construction happening on the lot beside the hotel so during the day it can be noisy. Not a problem if you are out and about all day, but would be a problem if you want to take an afternoon nap like I did. Hotel does realize this and provided earplugs in the room - but that it's the best. On the fence, some may like or not like these things: Rooms are dark and sexy, lighting too - which is romantic and sexy yes, but does make it hard to see things. I had to be extra careful packing to leave to make sure I wants leaving anything behind. Shower is glass walls! Open to the bedroom if you want for your companion to view - or you can draw a privacy blind. Again, sexy and romantic if that's what you are looking for. Or not an issue at all if you are staying there alone.
