The Ring Hotel offers a privileged locale, just a few minutes from the marina and the citadel of Porto-Vecchio, 24 km from Figari airport and 28 km from Bonifacio.
"change in management, good news!"
fantastic location for a diner by the sea and in town two steps away from the Marina ... interesting menu, tasty food, nice presentation and good service for a reasonable price. What else! Go early, have a drink in the garden and then dine...
A very dated hotel. Do not book the cheaper rooms. The carpets upstairs smell stale and damp. The rooms are very small and opening the windows lets in all the noise from the road and also lets in mosquitoes. Unfortunately the sound proofing is quite bad so you can hear the other guests in the neighbouring rooms. There are no nice sun loungers to relax on. There was a big orange cruise ship 100m away from the shore for the duration of our stay which made it a horrible view. There is no beach, just pebblestones. The positives were that breakfast was included in the room rate which was not true of the other hotels we stayed at in Corsica.
"Gem by the Sea"
What an incredible place , it was truly a GEM by the sea, the setup and the charm was out of this world, the friendly and helpful staff were also the added bonus to our stay, we ate at the restaurant 3 times, a bit pricey but very good. All and all it was a great place to relax for three days, the town itself nothing to write home about, the taxi prices to the beach exuberant... You definitely need a car in Corsica and of all the times I didn't have one and so my stay became a bit boring. The hotel itself is to die for, I would stay here again.
"Quirky but nice"
Have just returned from a week's holiday and must say that this hotel is spotlessly clean and well run, the staff being very helpful, but certain things taken for granted were not available. We had a ground floor terrace room with the terrace leading down to the sea, which had no door to the bathroom so apart from a shower curtain there was a complete lack of privacy. The toilet was separate. The room was very minimalistic in decoration and furniture but there was never any smell as walls and floors were stone or tiled. The tv had a habit of cutting out on world service but other than that the wifi gave good reception and it was generally very acceptable. Breakfast was excellent and served in an airy dining room or terrace overlooking the sea. The choice of food left nothing to be desired and it was a pleasure to go there every morning. We did not have a car and found little or no public transport available. A 10 minute walk one way to the harbour was very pleasant and a similar walk the opposite way took us to a hypermarket and cafes which were very useful. The old town was about 15 minute walk uphill (not too steep - easier coming down) where shops and citadel were very interesting. The grounds of the hotel were fantastic with lawns leading down to the sea and plenty of chairs and tables both in the sun and shade so that a very pleasant afternoon could be spent doing nothing! I would recommend this hotel for a restful holiday but beware of mosquitoes and other biting insects.
"Beautiful grounds, lovely room, friendly staff and perfect location"
First time in Corsica so my partner and I were nervous about selecting the right hotel. Talk about lucking out! This place was lovely from top to bottom. We arrived late (about 10pm) and they were ready to greet us. We knew dinner was ending for the evening and asked if it were possible to still have a meal. They were able to put something together on short notice (cold plates that were actually pretty good). Something we appreciated greatly. Our room was 19 (Pins Terrasse) and it was perfect. While it may be a bit small for some, we were comfortable with it. In fact, the grounds of the hotel are so lovely and the island itself is so amazing, I don't see why anyone would want a bigger room. (Btw, the bed was absolutely comfortable. Slept like a baby.) The morning breakfast buffet and presentation of it was beautifully done. The coffee, breads, marmalades, morning view - perfect. It was a fantastic way to start your morning before exploring the island. Honestly, the best part overall was the staff. They were very friendly and helpful. I want to give a special thanks to Erika, Matthieu, Kevin and Collette. They were all very warm and patient (neither my partner nor I can understand French well - they all spoke some English which was extremely helpful to us). There were other staff members that were good too, but we regretfully did not get their names.
