I just checked out 2 days ago, its a nice hotel with so much friendly and helpful staff, 4 restaurants one better than the other especially LaFaya, a boat house with free waterski, pedal boat, glass boat and....for guests Good sauna and jacuzzi and spa At all i recommend this hotel for those who look for a quiet hotel for relaxing.
I went with my family to celebrate my birthday.Overall we had a great time, food was good, comfortable rooms. we have to thank Mr Pravesh , Restaurant Manager and Mr preeyesh , Waiter who were kind, courteous and helpful throughout the stay. The housekeeping team Soomani , Namah , Bhatoo, Indiren , Gitanjali were nice people and helpful.
"Our best holiday"
Just paradise. We liked everything. It's true that the rooms are a little older but they compensate with the view. And the food in the restaurants is mirific. For us, a good bath in the ocean, a good plate with an extraordinary aroma, a good local drink in the night with a good cigar and lovely people, was paradise. And all that with plenty of love. Just, paradise.
"Nice place, but middle of "nowhere""
Very nice place. We have only bead & breakfast, so can't comment about lunch or dinners. Very clean and staff were very kindly. At end of November it was not crowded, so consider twice if you are going to pay extra for Nirvana package (I'm not sure if it require extra cost). Breakfast was good and everything were covered against the birds. Overall, it's seems to be very clean place since we did not notice any affect to our stomachs :) Location is quite good if you would like stay in hotel area. But if you want to go shopping or restaurants outside hotel, you need to take expensive taxi or rent scooter or car. Sure you can take a bus, but it's like joke if you plan to go Grand Baie. I found only one bus line 228, which go to North and back. Frequency between busses is about 1,5h and bus line get closed quite early at evening. Beach is ok, but not near as good beaches at northern. Sure you can take a walk on beach but sand is little a bit coarse in some places. During our visit the beach were quite windy and therefore we spend most of our time in other beaches. Some water activities included to price, like padle boat, water skiing, snorkeling etc. and that is big plus to hotel. Perhaps it's little bit far from action, but it was still in correct direction. During our visit weather were good and sky in southern looked rainy quite often. Also east side of island felt more windy than western side. Some prices I remember. All are not bargained prices. Scooter 125cc = 450-500MRU/day (long rental) Bicycle 200-400MRU/day Car from hotel 2000MRU/day, longer rental approx. 700-800MRU/day Bus ticket to Grand Baie approx. 30MRU/person/direction. Taxi to Grand Baie approx. 600MRU/direction. Taxi from airport to hotel, 80EUR via hotel, 56EUR via cabforce. Taxi from hotel to airport (taxi from street) 1500-1600MRU.
"Great hotel - highly recommended"
We stayed here for 12 nights in November. After travelling 12 hours and arriving early morning you don't truly appreciate the hotel on first impressions. We were offered a seat at the atrium bar whilst Sam helped us checked in. Sam was really helpful explained everything we needed to know and organised some welcome drinks. As we were checking in at 9am our room would not be ready till 3pm but Sam organised us access to our room at 1.30 which is hugely appreciated after travelling for 15 hours. The rooms are large with everything you need. We had a ground floor garden room which was less then 20 metres from the Indian Ocean. The beds are comfortable and large. The tv has quite a few stations - not a huge choice in English but a movie channel which was nice to have on in the background whilst getting ready. The bathroom is large with a walk in shower. It was clean but they do need modernising. Housekeeping were really helpful and whatever you asked for they were happy to help. The beach is amazing but there is a lot of broken coral so shoes are a must. The swimming pool in the nirvana area is really nice but the main one is really disappointing - cold and definitely needs an upgrade. The water sports are free so we tried a few things. We do recommend the glass bottom boat - the coral offshore is impressive and we were lucky to see lots of dolphins. Book this the day before at the water sport desk. The gym and spa area are lovely. We used the gym every night and the personal trainer in there is really helpful. One day I had a bad back so he helped me out with some stretches which really helped. The food here is really impressive. 180 degrees is where breakfast is served. This has cereals, fruit, cooked items and an omelette station. I have a wheat allergy and they kindly cooked me fresh bread every morning. Dinner is also served here, with every night having a different theme. We went to the French, Italian, seafood, Mauritian, Chinese and oriental. They were all really good. The food is very fresh and high quality. You can also eat at the other three restaurants- cumin (Indian), shells (seafood / Mauritian) and Le faya (international). We are at shells four times which was really lovely. The restaurant is located right on the beach. There is lots to choose from on the menu. If you are half board you can eat anywhere. At shells and Le faya you can eat anything with an asterisk (which is quite a lot). Ignore the bottom of the menu where it says asterisk items are only included for full board and all inclusive as they have missed off half board. We found the food for half board was plentiful and did not miss eating at lunchtime. The drinks are more expensive then Europe but not ridiculously so. A large bottle of water which will give you 6 glasses is £3.50. A beer is £6 -10 and wine is £7. If you like drinking then maybe go all inclusive. The staff here are very friendly and really try hard to exceed your expectations. I did have doubts after reading some of the reviews but go and book it, you will not regret it!
