of TripAdvisor Travelers recommend this hotel
Large Resort approx. 350 rooms. Rooms very roomy, well appointed & all overlook the beach and have balconies. We had a room on the far end of the Resort which was very quiet & good for sleeping. Choice of 4 x Restaurants offering good selection, although more expensive & smaller Restaurants around the area. Tip - they have a more exclusive section - "Nirvana" I would recommend if you want kids exclusion area. Beach has some Coral areas that need to be avoided. Loved the Resort & friendly staff & would recommend - Great value for money.
"Great holiday, some issues"
Location wonderful, but some slight road noise from behind the hotel but rooms all face the ocean so not the end of the world ( I don't like noise ) The Food was 7 star !!! The staff FANTASTIC. always extremely gracious and friendly!!! We had all meals included, but drinks expensive. They want 45 EURO per day per person for all inclusive - insane! Even water is charged for which is ridiculous, I understand paying fir liquor or cold rinks, but water' come on guys' give people water' at least at meals. and in the room, I complained, and they were very gracious to at least provide bottled water in the rooms. buy water/cold drinks from the max shop next door, and then take to beach etc. Had 1 tot of Jameson whiskey in the bar - cost more than a whole bottle in South Africa. Wanted inter-leading rooms, tried months in advance, hotel could not or would not help. So we had garden rooms, which was great, with common balconies, but as all rooms are tiled, you get scraping noises from upstairs which can be irritating. ideally would like a top floor units next time that are interleading for the kids.
"Excellent for family holiday"
I am continously amazed at the people who leave poor reviews for this hotel. I think it reflects more on their own egos than on the hotel itself. Yes, the hotel is not brand new, but it offers everything that a family holidaying on an island will require, and I will gladly come here again. Where else can you spend the whole day on the beach, and just walk off the beach onto a lovely restaurant like Shells. We have stayed in 5 star hotels all over the world, and have had far less fun and relaxing stays than here. When you are on an island holiday, then live the informal and relaxed lifestyle that it offers. It is not the time to be arrogant or overly demanding. We will be coming here again next year, rather than all the 5 star options we have all over the world.
"Great Cost Benefit Resort"
Le Meridien is well situated in Mauritius and offers a great cost benefit package. If you are looking for the resort of your lifetime, forget it. There are more expensive options nearby - even in the neighboring towns - that may offer more modern facilities. Breakfast is.plentiful and has multiple options. There are 4 restaurants in the premises that offer good food - not exceptional. Great staff - always available to assist - bilingual and very friendly. Rooms and bathrooms need renovation yes, but for the cost compared to other similar 4 to 5 star resorts... it is 40% less. Great pool areas, sea activities free of charge, great beach front... it is just perfect. I'd recommend this hotel to friends, who care about staying in a decent resort on a great deal.
Being an Indian vegetarian, I was little concerned about the food prior to my travel during December 2016. I was quite surprised to find such lavish exclusive Indian restaurant in the hotel serving mouth watering dishes giving absolute Indian feeling. Rooms are superbly maintained with great hygiene. Offers awesome sea and park views. Though Mauritius was pretty disappointing and not as per expectations but the hotel is a travel destination in itself. Personally, I was not able to explore it completely. If I ever happen to visit Mauritius again by chance, my bet will be on Le Meridien Ile Maurice for sure.
