"Beautyful Negresco - second visit"
My wife and I have stayed at the Hotel Negresco two times and enjoyed every visit. The hotel is grandly elegant and has so much original artwork that it rivals some museums. Each floor has a reception area displaying works from a different art historical era and hallways are lined with original prints/paintings by artists such as Dali, Leger and Dubuffet. Public areas are equally impressive, with an ornate Louis XV sitting room and a huge crystal chandeliered ballroom. As for the hotel rooms, each is individually decorated, with oriental throw rugs and plush fabrics. While most of the rooms are fairly large, with large bathrooms, some at the lower end of the price scale are smaller and look a bit worn. However, everything is immaculate and the staff is always very helpful and gracious if there is a problem. Finally, the hotel's two dining rooms (one is formal, the other casual) are excellent . My only complaint is that the walls are not really soundproof and one can usually hear hallway noise as well as noise from adjoining rooms. All in all, though this is a terrific hotel and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Nice.
Wonderful old-school hotel. Charming and elegant. The foyer and the starcase are a true experience. Beautyfully decorated with art and antiques. Wonderful suites with seaview. Spacy and comfortable. Delicious breakfast. Cosy bar. Helpful and professional staff.
"Wonderful, superb, amazing, incredible.."
Ten star experience! From the moment you walk in and your case is whisked away, to the time you leave promising that you will be back soon, the whole experience is just magical. My room wasn't ready and so I was offered a complimentary drink in the bar which was lovely with perfect professional and understated service. I then moved to my room - I just stayed for one night but will definitely return for a much longer stay. I received a complementary upgrade and my room was just fabulous, quirky, eclectic but also charming, traditional and had everything I needed - the size of my superior room was huge, a settee, armchairs, huge bathroom and the most comfiest bed I have ever slept in. Breakfast the next morning in La Rotonde was also amazing - the first time I have ever eaten breakfast surrounded by carousel ponies, truly magical. Thomas who was managing the breakfast room was also professional and interested in the satisfaction of the guests, he is a real asset to the hotel. I then spent time visiting the hotel and looking at the amazing artworks, a truly living breathing museum hotel. Just incredible. The service from everyone I encountered during the stay was exceptional and I would rate it 10*. I will be back soon!
I booked this as a 60th birthday surprise for my husband. The deal included a bottle of champagne and chocolates in the room and breakfast on both days. We arrived to a warm welcome and the receptionist took us to our room and encouraged us to explore the rest of the hotel to look at the art. I arranged to have the champagne/chocolates delivered at 6pm that day. It had not arrived by 6.30 so I called reception, they were very apologetic and it arrived shortly thereafter. We had been upgraded to an Exclusive room with a balcony and side sea view - wonderful! The room was large and pretty, although a little faded. The bathroom had obviously been refurbished and was very large and clean with a separate shower, toilet and bath/shower combination and 2 sinks. There is refurbishment going on but it did not disturb us. The hotel is amazing, lots of wonderful quirky art and each floor has a different theme. The breakfast was taken in The Rotunda an amazing room with carousel horses around it and was very comprehensive, lots of fresh fruit, pastries, hot food etc. You could not ask for more. We had afternoon tea in the bar which, while a little slow to arrive was very good. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed a short stay and would hope to return in the not too distant future.
"Fantastic hotel with art, funny decor and decorations overall"
We booked a junior suite for 2 days at a special price. The suite had sea view and also we could see the airport Cote d'Azur from our windows. The suite was huge and it was one big room with bed and bathroom in one end and sitting area in the other end.In between a desk for work and with coffee maker. The bathroom was enormous and with shower cabin, separate toilet and also a Spa bath. The Spa and shower and handwashes (2) were gold plated (plastic, but fine!). It was on 5th floor and we slept well in a good and huge bed, and no noise from the street (Promenade des anglais) was heard at any time. One strange thing was, that you should call reception to change aircondition and temperature in the suite'' We did and it functioned. Another thing was the lightning system in the suite - it was extremely difficult to operate! It is fantastic to walk from floor to floor in the hotel - all floors are differently decorated, and there is so much art, paintings, sculptures etc etc, that it is like a living museum. The breakfast room is La Rotonde (decor like a Tivoli Hall) and it was really good with food of excellent quality. The staff is overall observant, polite and smiling - very good service. The doorman can park your car in the hotel carpark (included, if you book a suite, otherwise at a fee). And it is possible to bring your pet - we brought our cat, and he enjoyed the visit to Hotel Negresco as well! Hotel Negresco is not cheap - but it is worth a visit anyway!
