"Nice, But Not the Best.."
I moved to this hotel from the Renaissance Harbor View and in some ways it was an improvement and in others, not so much so. The rooms are much larger and those with two beds feature two Queen-size beds and the last time I stayed here (in April), the view was simply breathtaking, but though my current room is on the same side on an upper floor, the window is small and oddly to the side over the couch, so it's a bit difficult to enjoy. Odd positioning I thought. The bathroom is also very nice, which is nice and will suit the Western travelers nicely. The gym, however, is an oversized closet. Not more than two people at a time can use the gym and the equipment basically comprises of two treadmills, a bike, a pulley machine, and some dumbbells that my grandmother could probably handle. The breakfast, also was really disappointing both in variety and quantity, though the view on the 29th was stunning. There was no omelette chef and what they did offer was not that interesting in taste or quality. The appointments in the room were first rate and I LOVED the 50's-style espresso machine. There was also a fax in the room, which I have rarely ever seen. A nice touch was the cell phone, which apparently free of charge, though honestly I haven't used it, so not sure how "free" it actually is, or how it works. All-in-all a decent hotel in a very trendy and central location. Dragon-i is across the street as are other popular bars, which is an added bonus, if this is what you're looking for.
"Misleading advertising from a booking site"
Yesterday I decided to do a last minute Hotel booking in Hong Kong, to have some relaxed quality time with my partner. I booked by a booking site (booking.com) and all the info is in spanish. I booked a room which was advertised like this, in Spanish: "habitación Doble superior G500 LKF with extra big bed". My first surprise about the bed started during the check in. The gentleman who attend me told me "Sir, we are going to give you a bigger room, with 2 separated beds, is that ok'" I Replied that I booked something else, paid already, so I didn't see the point of moving to another type of room. Then he said "I will arrange it then". I went into the room and my first impresion was good. Clean, nice details... However my surprise was when I laid into the bed and I noticed a very hard part in the midle of the matress which made it really unconfortable. I removed the bedclothes and I realized that is was not a EXTRA BIG BED, was just 2 single matress together, covered with bed clothes making a look of king size bed. Try to reach guest service but the only onswer I got was that all their king size beds are like that. So basically you can just sleep in one or the other side, not in the center, really unconfortable when you are two people. Breakfast buffet was really average.
"Great location but not for walking with luggage"
The room is slightly bigger than the usual HK hotels, especially the bathroom. Comfy and clean. A little bit noisy from the bar downstairs till the wee hours. The hotel is located half way up a hill. If you are going to walk from the MRT station with luggage, be prepared for some uphill walking with stairs.
Definitely a huge disappointment. Not worth the money.. You could find a better, newer and trendier hotels cost less in Hong Kong.. This hotel was a disappointment for me in many ways.. It is for sure located in a very convenient location but I'm no way this is a hotel I would recommend to anyone looking for good quality, clean, decent place to stay in Hong Kong... The breakfast room on top of the restaurant is a big disappointment.. Needs an urgent renewal.. Always something dripping from the ceiling.. Breakfast is poor.. Rooms also need a renovation. Very old and not very clean.. The staff is incompetent.. They accidentally blocked a large amount of money on my cc which caused a big problem for me for the rest of the trip and they cannot get anyone in charge to help you.. Very disappointed..
Service was wonderful. My room came with breakfast and wifi which was great. I'm used to paying for both. There was even a free for your stay cell phone to use with free international calling. The room was spacious and well equipped although a little tired. The drapes were droopy and torn, the carpet a bit warn. Good location. An easy walk to the office for us with lots of restaurants in the area. Also a quick taxi ride to/from the train for the airport. I recommend it!
