We stayed at the Hotel Maya at the end of our 8 day MALAYSIA trip, and thought it might be a good place to put our feet up and relax in 5-star standards. Nope! That wasn't going to happen! We drove 7 hours from Kuala Perlis Ferry station to this hotel. No one helped us unload the car. We had big suitcases and I had to go into the Lobby to ask for help. The guy at the Reception (Hairul) was efficient but looked at us with one eyebrow raised as if he was doing us a favour by checking us in. No smiles..we said more 'thank yous' than he did! Then came the breakfast nightmare! My parents were to leave a few hours after us on check-out day; their flight was about 6 hours after mine. I was leaving at 5 am. I wanted them to be stress free and eat a good breakfast (they are both diabetic) before leaving for the airport which is an hour away. Tried to order breakfast 4 times the previous night.. the guy from Room service says, 'it's too early. Call me after 7 am!' No amount of explaining helped. Finally I went down to Reception, and Hairul (again) wrote down the order so it may be ready in the morning. Next morning, we try to check out.. the breakfast bill for my parents is all wrong. How can this be' Didn't we wrote it down' Arghhhh! 7 calls to the Chef, 3 face to face meeting with the Chef and Farah at Reception, where I literally pointed to the breakfast items on a menu card.... and it's still wrong!!!! UNBELIEVABLE! Finally, after 40 mins they got it right! One Cofffee, one Omelette and toast! Can it be simpler' Absolutely awful! The Executive lounge is complimentary for hot/cold beverages and snacks from 2100-2300 hrs. But very poorly maintained. The fruit and cakes had finished, the lady working there wasn't interested and didn't smile once. We really felt that we had wasted our money by staying here. Well needless to say, we're never going back!
"Next to Perfection!"
We stayed for 4 days last January 2017, and I must say, the hotel is one of the best! Value for money, accessible location, sumptuous buffet breakfast and very courteous staff! Added bonus was our room upgrade which made us very happy! <3
"A Little bit Spooky, I Know"
The night I checked in, I saw a few bugs on the desk. "That's fine," I told myself. The next day my colleague told me he has requested change to another room because of the bugs or insects on the desk, only to find insects on his bed in the next room. He ended up with a better (the third) room. Another surprise for me in the next morning is finding out my window view: a cemetery view. That's probably one of the KL's oldest Muslim burial ground. Okaaaaaaay ....I counted that as a noteworthy sightseeing point.
"Good view and lovely huge room"
Amazing view of KL Tower and amazingly big and lovely room. Nice, clean and comfortable bed and huge and pretty bath area. Short walk to KLCC - about 10 mins but safer to take taxi at night. Staff are friendly and helpful too.
"A room with a view"
I was fortunate to get a Junior Suite room which was on the 22nd floor, and stayed for a night. The room was spacious with one-whole wall of floor to shilling glass window and had an amazing city view! Amenities: Safety Box, CBTL Capsule Coffee Maker, Kettle, Mini Bar, TV, DVD Player, Hair Dryer, Ironing facility, Extensive Toiletries items. Location: Strategically located. Walking distance to the Kuala Lumpur city attractions; such as KLCC Note: The room may not be suitable for family or sharing with friends (unless you are okay with that😉) because the bathroom door cannot be locked and the wall of bathroom is actually made from a transparent glass (can be cover from outside of the ensuite bathroom with curtains). Plus point: There were Qiblat signage at the shilling. The staffs were friendly and helpful. My recommendation to the hotel: There is still room for improvement in terms of maintenance. Other than that, for me it's perfect. Thank you for having me as a guest😊
