Located in Madrid's luxurious district of Salamanca, the Miguel Ángel Hotel is only a few steps away from the historic district and is situated close to the principal museums as Prado, Thyssen-Bornemisza or Reina Sofia, but also close to the emblematic Santiago Bernabeu Stadium and the International Fais Park IFEMA. It only takes 10 minutes by car to reach the historical center of the city or the Madrid-Barajas International Airport.
Spent last night at hotel. Room 707. Although brochures and advertisements showed a vibrant hotel, it was far from it. I booked the room thru hotels.com. My room smelled like a gym of sweat. My bed was worse than a 4x8 piece of plywood, and lastly my pillows were like concrete blocks. The only bright side of the hotel was the gym and the breakfast. Both were very acceptable. This is why i rated a 2 star instead of a 1 star. Now i probably would of not written a review, but during check out, while i mentioned the shortcomings of the hotel while i was checking out, in a very nice humble approach, the unfriendly clerk did not say one word. No apology, no im sorry for inconevience. Nothing. So if your looking for a nice gym, tben by all means, stay here, but if looking for a comfortable bed and a refreshing room, stay away.
I came to Madrid for a three day break from work and being a solo traveller decided to invest in a high end hotel. Having read lots online about the location of this hotel along with the quality of the facilities (gym, spa, breakfast, wi fi) I picked Hotel Miguel Angel. Firstly the location is superb! It is right next to the metro station Gregorion Marinon so from the airport it costs 4:80 euros (you do have to change lines near the end for one stop). Upon checking in the receptionist advised me that the best way to get to the city centre was via the 150 bus which stops just over the road from the hotel. It costs just 1:50 euros each way and only takes ten minutes. It drops you in Sevilla which is a short walk from Sol, Plaza de Mayor and the iconic parts of the city centre (opera house, palace, cathredral). The buses are pretty frequent too so a perfect way to go back and forth to the city! I was keen to visit the bernabeu for the stadium tour and pleasingly from the hotel it is a twenty minute walk down one straight road! I strongly recommend paying the little extra for breakfast as it's buffet style so can serve as two meals! I used the fitness centre each morning and it's well equipped! My only minor complaint is you have to pay 20 euros to use the spa! It is superb though so I shouldn't complain too much, ideally it could be either included in the room or subsidised...maybe ten euros' Otherwise I only have good things to say about the hotel...great facilities, friendly staff, tasty breakfast and a genuinely brilliant location! Would go back again for sure! Thanks, Chris
"Average stay, fabulous location"
First the pluses- wonderful location, the entrance of the hotel is literally 2 steps away from the Greogorio Maranon metro station, and hence very easy connectivity to the heart of Madrid, till late hours of the night. Wonderful spread of the buffet breakfast, fresh and good quality spread. Good hot shower, very friendly staff with quick turn around of requests - ironing board, a very late night meal at 1 am at night, to name a few. I found the room lacking in comfort - the mattress, the decor felt dated and a lot of early morning noise from the corridors.
I stayed here for a week with business and have to say this is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in arrived in Sunday night reception area is nice staff pleasant got my room key and when I arrived I was taken aback by the decor old scratched blankets on bed had a shower and went to bed as it was near midnight in bed felt itchy jumped out of bed to find bed full of bugs went straight down to reception who came up seen the issue and arranged to move rooms only to find second room bed had hairs in it finally got a room and had a restless night hotel did upgrade me a few days later and apologised for what happened have to say the staff were good but at €200 euros a night it is just not up to standard
"Dated but still nice"
We stayed one night at the beginning of a tour of Spain, and found the hotel to be typically Spanish, with lots of marble and varnished wood, and perhaps a little old fashioned. The bed was comfortable and of a good size; the room could have been a little larger, but it did boast an armchair and even a trouser press. And it's always nice when returning to a hotel room later in the evening to find the bed turned down and a chocolate on the pillow. Some old fashioned touches are always welcome. The location is great, with a metro stop two minutes walk away.
