"Two Different Experiences"
I'll start off by saying the location of this hotel is perfect. We stayed in 2 different rooms as we went to Paris in between our trip to London. The first time we checked in, no one helped us with our luggage (although they stood by and watched us struggle). The room was fine, but the bathroom seemed quite old and hadn't been cleaned very well. The second time was completely different. Staff was very helpful and the room was clean - completely different bathroom as well (it was more modern). Overall it was a comfortable stay, but not the absolute best.
"Old and Tired"
This hotel is situated in a quiet area of Mayfair, which is great. Easily accessible from Bond tube station. The hotel itself is in need of some TLC. The room we stayed in was tired, with obvious damage to the wall. Toothpaste stains on the sink was not welcome either. The hallway leading to the room had a real whiff of sweaty/mustiness. Overall, service was ok and it was a good point to base out of.
We stayed here as we were dinning at Benares for a joint birthday/ wedding anniversary. On arriving the reception desk was really friendly and check in took no time at all. They remembered our celebrations and congratulated us which was nice. We got to our room and there were two chocolate cakes for each celebration. Another lovely touch. We were upgraded free of charge to a suite. The stay was lovely great night sleep very comfortable bed. Breakfast was varied and plenty of it. A little bit cold but nothing to worry about. Service was perfect. Check out was just as smooth. Great hotel highly recommend it.
Booked for my friends birthday, lovely Champagne afternoon tea, not run of the mill. Lovely sandwiches, the scones were light fluffy and delicious. There were small puddings as well, which finished the tea off nicely. Would go back.
We booked a club room which enabled us to have three adults share the room which was surprisingly spacious. We had requested single beds but found a kingsize double, this was reconfigured to two singles within fifteen minutes of checking in. Breakfast was in the club lounge on the seventh floor with views of a number of landmarks, full buffet in a pleasant setting, chairs a little low but comfortable. Staff both on the front desk and service were friendly and obliging. The hotel is in a pleasant location, close to Oxford street for those wanting to shop. Looking a little dated in some areas but everything worked and we had a pleasant stay.
