We stayed here for 2 nights. Thomaz, the receptionist, who I met both on arrival and checkout was a nice guy, smiley, informative, polite and welcoming. Our room was really spacious with large windows to the beautiful Indoor garden. Room furnitures was more than enough and the sofa was super comfortable. Free Wifi was available in our room and it was really fast. My only concern was a bit of dust on the phone wire and couple of stains on one of the pillow cases which can be missed easily by the cleaner. I also found gym a bit tired; it didn't have any view and the equipments were a bit noisy. Sauna was in good working condition. It was too cosy but as I was the only person in it at the time it can explain its size. We enjoyed our stay here and definitely stay here again.
"2nd Excellent stay"
Myself, my daughter and grandson had a lovely stay at this hotel. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and room service was exceptional. My daughter was very impressed with the friendliness of the restaurant manager when she went to pay for room service and the reception staff were very attentive. The room was amazing, very spacious and clean. We will definitely visit again.
Have used this hotel on previous visits to the stadium for the rugby. It is ideal for London Irish rugby and Reading football home games. The rooms have always been very clean and tidy, staff helpful and friendly, and the food good, especially breakfast as there is a wide choice. Thai food is available, but have not tried it. Unable to control the air conditioning in the room, otherwise all was o.k. Have already booked another visit.
"A fine place to stay."
Stayed for work and would imagine I will stay here again. It was suggested by the office, but I will happily stay again through choice. Good sized car park with ample overflow. I did stay on a relatively quite day, so everyone was slick, efficient and I had full attention. Check in was easy. Two lifts project you briskly upstairs to wide, colourful corridors with well stationed signs showing you where to go. Rooms are spacious with a seating area, a work station and the most comfortable bed I have slept in away from home in ages. They're huge, firm and relaxing. The en suite does what it needs to do, but there is room for a separate bath AND shower, so I can't understand the average shower over a bath, with a plastic curtain!! However, it all works, water is piping hot, towels fluffy and lighting good. The downstairs bar is a place you could get lost in. It's huge. Obviously as a Football club hotel it has to accommodate large groups, but if there's less than 60 of you, it has no ambiance or character which is a shame. There's probably a dozen TV's and they're all tuned into Sky Sports and at £5 for a pint of Guinness, you won't want to be having a session!! Food however, is a different story. Whatever I saw turned out looked amazing. I went for their Thai menu as I think this is a superb offering, so thanks to the Thai owners of the club for pushing this forward. Thai potato cakes, coriander and green peppercorn chicken, lamb yellow curry, sticky rice and a small cucumber and chilli salad. Excellent, tasty, healthy and disappeared in no time. And after the mango sorbet I was stuffed. Beggars belief that guests were ordering burgers, steaks or fish and chips when this is on the menu!! Breakfast saw some of the beast breakfast sausages I've ever tasted. Other choices included loads of fresh fruit and yoghurts, different breads, plenty of cereals and polite attentive staff bringing fresh tea or coffee. It felt a wonderful relaxing place to dine too. Check out was easy and one of the concierges showed us the walkway to our new offices and allowed us to leave the cars in the car park for a few hours at no charge. I'll be happy to book again when next down at the office, although probably not on a match day!!!
"Should have been better!"
The only reason I am rating this so low is because of the disappointment with the junior suite and club benefits. I arrived early and was given room 150, which is next to the lifts on the first floor. It was a glorious day and very warm. However I could not leave my curtains open as I looked directly onto the car park arrivals, the outside bar seating area and all the rooms towering to my left. There was absolutely no privacy. I immediately went out so I could enjoy the weather and when I eventually returned I had been given the room cards for the lounge access. The new member of staff had forgotten this and had just said that breakfast was not included. The breakfast that you actually get bares no resemblance to the picture they show you advertising the club breakfast. It is merely pastries, toast, fruit and cereals with hot and cold beverages. It certainly is not the delicious looking breakfast in the picture. The bathroom was small and so the only advantage to this suite was a lounge area. It was very disappointing not to be able to see the fabulous sushine, but with no net curtains I didn't want to be observed from passers by. The bar area seating people could in fact see into my bathroom. The picture on my wall also reflected views in the long bedroom mirror so there was nowhere to hide! I was out for the one hour slot that was available for the one free alcoholic drink that the Club offers. So in all I wish we had just had a basic room and paid for breakfast. I would then have been able to keep my curtains open, had privacy and enjoyed a cooked breakfast. The reception staff were very helpful when I needed a taxi and the firm used was exceptional.
