"Good large rooms and tasty breakfast"
Booked a family room here, as it's very big with two proper double beds. Very pleased with the amenities and the breakfast which was well-cooked and had a good variety of choices. It's a bit outside Reading, but that didn't bother us as we were visiting relatives and weren't interested in going into the center.
"Great Location and Value"
We stayed here to attend an event at The Jazz Cafe and found the hotel room exceptional value for money. The Reception Staff and Manager were most welcoming, check in fast and the room was modern, extremely clean and well furnished. Only slight downside was price of drinks in the bar but that did not, in anyway, detect from the wonderful welcome and true value of the well appointed and maintained rooms with wonderfully comfortable beds!
"Very modern hotel"
A modern hotel next to the football stadium not far from the M4. The rooms are far more spacious than a Premier Inn. Otherwise the overall quality is similar except that the sound insulation is not as good. The only criticism is that the pillows were flimsy.
"Overnight business trip"
Nice clean and modern hotel. Park and ride opposite hotel so easy access into Reading did £3 return. Didn't have food as my company only booked me room only. The room I had was very nice and very large. Would use again if staying in the area.
"Lost 2 stars for poor service"
The room was nice, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was reasonably clean. The atrium bar was pleasant but predictably expensive for drinks. However the customer service was disappointing. We only had two pillows on our double bed so I rang down for two more - I tried housekeeping, reception and concierge with no answer. I then located a member of housekeeping who I asked to bring up pillows and she never did. We wanted to use the pool so I went down to Reception to ask for robes for the spa, and the receptionist said they do not have robes. I told her I had seen guests with robes in tripadvisor photographs, so she said they have robes only for Club members. I thought this was pretty off, I am not accustomed to hotel staff refusing guests requests - particularly if they are reasonable. Also, the hotel seems completely inconsiderate to guests who are not there for a football-related reason. Twice I was accosted outside the hotel by security asking me if I was staying at the hotel, again I am not used to being treated like this at a hotel. The place overflowed with Reading fans Saturday afternoon which is fine, however there is no private area for guests in the bar and restaurant, and no ability to reserve tables or avoid the football except stay in your room. The spa needs refurbishing as it's a little old and tired, and the Jacuzzi had such strong chlorine in it that when I got some in my eyes I couldn't open then again properly and had to leave. Also the sauna was a cool 50 degrees, and there were limited places to sit or leave your towels. The two recliners by the pool looked absolutely filthy. Also the towels we were provided were thin, old, and rough. This trip could have been better with a little more consideration to their guests.
