"Friendly, comfortable hotel with excellent customer service"
This hotel is a fantastic choice for a place outside of Washington DC. Alexandria is a charming place with plenty to do and a good variety of quality restaurants to choose from. On arrival after a long flight the welcome was perfect and very friendly. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the bathroom has a shower & a bath. The staff can't do enough to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, particularly Warsan, so thank you Warsan. The food in the restaurant is top quality - not cheap but it doesn't deserve to be. Whatever the price I'd be surprised if you left disappointed after visiting the restaurant. The chef is supremely talented and the staff very friendly and professional. All in all a very nice stay in a beautiful town. Would definitely visit again and I hope to!
"Location, Location, Location"
We were only in town for one night and this hotel makes you feel right at home. The staff were very engaging and helpful. The room was really nice and the price was great. It was very convenient for walking, shopping or visiting the water. If we go back to this area we will definitely stay here longer. The only issue is that parking is expensive and is not run by the hotel .... yet it is under the hotel.
"A wonderful place to explore alexandria from"
The hotel is very nice, very accomodating and the rooms are bright and quiet. The wine hour is very nice with a choice of two wines and a drink special. The restaurant Jackson 20 is connected to the hotel and is also very nice, food good. The hotel is in a great spot, about two blocks from the water and in the middle of old town. They gave me a break on the valet charge for my car because it was a hybrid. I noticed bikes to use also in the lobby.
"Very good choice for wedding weekend in Alexandria"
The Monaco was selected by the bride and groom for its out of town guests. We got a very good rate and the location was excellent. Since we all flew into Reagan National Airport, it was very convenient that the hotel provided a free hourly shuttle half after the hour. Just call the hotel when your plane has landed. The rooms were large and comfortable. We rented two connecting double rooms, each with two full size beds. I would have preferred two queen beds but that wasn't an option. The bathroom is well equipped, but the tub wall was very high. There was no handle to use to step into the tub - there really should be. We tried to rent a handicapped room because my mother was traveling with us, but handicapped rooms only came with King beds. That makes no sense to me, as two double beds would work better for a handicapped/older person and caregiver, however that's what I was told, so we went with the two double bed rooms. There is a free wine happy hour from 5 to 6 pm in the lobby. It was nice, but extremely crowded. Our group moved out onto one of the patios which was quieter, but hot. I was surprised that neither the hallways or elevators seemed to be air conditioned. However the rooms were quite comfortable. The swimming pool was a nice amenity. The free coffee in the lobby in the morning was delicious. Also the food at the Jackson 20 restaurant, adjacent to the hotel, was excellent. All and all, this was a good choice for our family.
"A Great Hotel with a Few Things You Should Know"
My family and I just returned from a three night stay at Hotel Monaco in Alexandria. We stayed in a room with two double beds and bought the breakfast package. We arrived and enjoyed finding two fish in our room which my four and seven year old boys loved. The front desk gave the boys a little bag of food goodies and my sons had a great time at the kids happy hour eating snacks, playing games, and reading books. As you've probably already read the hotel's location is excellent and in the heart of Old Town Alexandria. One of the things I wish someone would have written in a review is the fact that Old Town Alexandria has a free trolley that goes up and down King street which is the street the hotel is situated on. I almost didn't book a room at Monaco initially because I didn't want to have to walk to the Metro. When I found out about the trolley it made all of the difference to me about the location of the hotel. If you stay in a Double room be advised that the beds are incredibly small. It was a tight squeeze for the four of us to be in a room and my very tall husband had a hard time fitting on the bed. Also, the bathroom was essentially a small closet with no vent so be prepared. With that said you are likely not going to be in your room a lot if you are visiting DC and the double room was very affordable. My family and I liked the restaurant Jackson 24 that is connected to the hotel. The breakfast package includes coffee, fruit, or a pastry or it counts as $7 towards the menu. It was a nice option for our family. There is a pool on the property which was a selling point for my family. Strangely there was a lifeguard at the pool. I think the city must have a law or ordinance about lifeguards at hotel pools. Don't be deceived however because the lifeguard that was at the pool was reading a book and not at all engaged in watching the kids. Other things you might want to know is that you will be pay for parking and the hotel has a great wine hour at 5PM for adults.
