I had a comfortable stay at this hotel. I liked that it's close to restaurants both small/family-owned and those in Union Square. Staff members were friendly from desk to housekeeping - special kudos to Benjie, who gave me recommendations where to have lunch!
"A Wonderful Boutique Hotel"
Great, genuine San Francisco experience. Lovely rooms with a terrific team of staff. I will use this hotel every time i return to SF if possible. Coffee in the morning. Wine in the evening. Bike rentals. Central location.
"Totally Unique Rooms"
When you walk into the hotel, it might take your breath away. The lobby is stunning! I have never stayed at such a unique hotel before. The design of the rooms were incredible. We had great costumer service from the time we booked the hotel until we checked out. The valet was attentive and quick. The only downside was that we could hear people in the rooms next to us at different times of the day and night.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and already had the room ready to go to with the extras we had asked for. We booked a taxi with another company which did not turn up so the marker hotel staff had a taxi there for us within a few minutes ready to go.would highly recommend
"Excellent customer service"
This was our second stay at the Marker we stayed here the same time last year and enjoyed it so much we came back. This time we weren't so lucky , we arrived late on Friday 25th Nov for a four day stay without luggage . We had taken the Friday nappa wine tour and arranged for our luggage to be brought to us the following day . Because of thee tour we had only a travel bag with toiletries and two box's of chocs in the room which the maid disposed of on the Saturday assuming we had left . We came back to the room to find it empty of our belongings and made up ready for a new arrival. We were told our things had been disposed of and could not be retrieved. The second issue was on numerous occasions we had no hot water in the room because of a faulty valve which makes things difficult when you have 3 adults occupying the room. My final gripe is that last year the hotel had a beautiful Christmas tree in the lobby which gave a lovely ambience when you walked in the front door. Now for the good bits ! you may wonder why I have given the hotel a 4 out of 5 after the issues I experienced ,the answer quite simply is the staff ! In life things go wrong and we all have problems from time to time , how they are resolved is what really matters. We had already been down to the front desk with regard to our belongings being cleared , but no hot water in the room again for the 3rd time when my wife went for a shower sent her over the edge and down to front desk she went. I thought god help them now ! She came back to room totally diffused telling me that Kyle on front desk was a lovely guy and that he had given us the use of another room close by to shower in and had arranged complimentary breakfast for us in the hotel as an apology. I went down later to thank him and find out what's his secret to diffuse an irrate femate, always useful right ! Kyle was just a genuinely nice guy also very good at his job as were all the staff I came into contact with. The complimentary wine every evening 5-6 is very popular and gives you a chance to chat to the other guests. All in all because ot the exceptional customer service we experienced we give the Marker another try.
