"1st time ski trip to Zermatt"
Two couples came to Zermatt for some skiing. We spent 3 nights at the hotel. Rooms 405 & 410. Both had views of the matterhorn. I travel extensively it's a rare time that a hotel is small enough to offer real services while being cozy. I don't give 5 stars, but our stay deserves it. There is no drama at the hotel, they provide a true Swiss feel ( not an American remake ) . Breakfast was totally understated, they mentioned it was included but it was so extensive it should be the a lead story. The bar and dinner are not full of want a be's . Every age at the bar with fine dinner alternatives. The manager : Line Fevrier is always about, She has a gentle smile and the staff takes her lead. The hotel is directly across from the Mtn access ( Sunnagga lift ) it made it so nice. My wife and I as well as our friends will return. This is a great vibe.
"Great place to stay"
This is a nice hotel , it's a relaxed chalet style. The staff is amazing, every one is helpful and kind. My husband injured himself skiing and they have been really great with ice packs and help. Bastion at the bar is the best! Friendly, makes great drinks and welcomes you to Zermatt in style. Great central location near train, ski lifts and restaurants. The spa area is fine, a bit dated, but totally functions and is clean. I would stay here again.
"Cheerful and Charming"
Everyone you meet in this hotel--from Leonie and Daniela at reception; Bastien and Mehmet at the bar; the servers at breakfast; the omelette maker; the shuttle driver; the ladies who place the chocolates on your pillows--is genuinely friendly, welcoming and accommodating. A sure sign of excellent management and staffing. Our room was spotless; the bed comfortable, and the little balcony a pleasant place for a quiet sunbathe or cigarette. Breakfasts are simply superb -- with an array of glorious breads, cheeses, meats, egg dishes, cereals, citrus and assorted fresh fruit, yogurts, lovely jams, freshly squeezed juices from which to choose, we found we didn't need lunch. The ski room, with the offer of daily ski sock washes and boot disinfecting, was a much appreciated bonus for us as was use of the spa, with its steam room, sauna, whirlpool, dream shower and alternating hot and cold foot pools. When there was a glitch upon check-out, Fabio, the manager, handled the situation with incredible graciousness and efficiency. A marvellous experience, overall. Keep up the stellar work, Hotel National and crew!
"Hotel National Zermat"
I am a world traveler and this may very likely be the best hotel I've ever been too. The staff here is wonderful. Whether the front desk or the restaurant every single staff member is genuine and gracious . Fabio greeted and welcomed us almost as if he was inviting us as a guest in his own house . The restaurant staff likewise treated us well. You are about a 5 minute walked removed from the denser part of town so that offers a quieter stay for sure . The rooms are lovely and the spa was absolutely wonderful and well maintained . I truely look forward to coming back and again I thank the staff for a wonderful stay .
A swiss style hotel in the perfect location for skiing as it is just a short stroll to the ski lifts. The staff were warm, friendly and very helpful. The family room with a loft was spacious and very comfortable, with a wonderful view of the Matterhorn. Tasty breakfast was also included in the price. We will definitely stay here again.
