"Second Visit - Standards have Slipped"
Stayed here before in November 2015 and loved it! The room was clean and spacious, the staff were friendly and the food and drink were good value. This stay was not as good. While the hotel is still well situated, the room we stayed in on this occasion was in the basement. These rooms are detailed as Souterainian rooms although we did it know that when we booked. We were in room 810 which was right beside the store for the housekeepers, because of that, it was constantly noisy. I could also hear the rooms next door hotel room open as if it was our room which frightened me. Also not in the photos is the vent/window type structure that goes between the bedroom and the bathroom which lacks privacy. There were robes and slippers provided but it was evident that these were well worn. The robes had tears in them and the slippers were very small and did not fit my boyfriend. Food and drink was dearer than before also.
Basic hotel in a good location. About 10-15 mins walk to all museums and the flower market/old town. We requested a room with two twin beds as i was with my dad and we arrived to a room with a double bed. They quickly switched the bed over so it wasn't a big deal. We were however given a room in the basement of the building which is so bizarre to me. People stood outside of our room all night on the street and smoked and talked which I could smell and hear at all hours. They should not have rooms in the basement/ below street level. Otherwise it's a really nice looking hotel with friendly staff, didn't try the food or drinks there so cannot comment on them. I would Go back again but would request an above ground room for sure. I paid the same amount as any other room there.
the hotel is very dirty, its not close to centrum, mais walking in the room, not a real 4 star, breakfast and restaurant was horrible, service staff and receptionists rude , they didnt spoke english, not helpfull at all, exxxxtremelly not raccomanded
"Nice hotel in a good location"
Thankfully neither Hugh Grant nor Julia Roberts were in evidence as we stepped into the foyer of this hotel, where my partner and I stayed here for one night. There's a bit of a London theme going on so if you're from a Richard Curtis film you'll feel right at home. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, giving us advice on how to get to places and even giving me free vouchers for the bar as it was my birthday. Our room was spacious, modern and clean with a lovely big shower. Not sure about the louvred window between the bathroom and the bedroom - good job we know each other well!. Our room was a bit cold when we arrived but the heating worked well and it was soon toasty. The hotel is reasonably central and close to the tram stops. Definitely worth considering if you're coming to Amsterdam.
We had a standard Bongo lunch here. Club sandwich and 2 drinks. Unfortunately it wasn't very busy but on the other hand we had all attention of the staff. Club sandwich was more than enough but a little bit dry. After all a nice place to stay but nothing special.
