"Tops for the view.."
I was fortunate enough to stay in a Club room on the 28th floor that had a fantastic view of the harbour, and particularly of the Hong Kong skyline at night.. amazing. Beds offer firm or soft pillows. Speedy wifi was also available. We held our meetings in the Hotel's meeting room on the 39th floor which was great if you weren't distracted by the view! We had breakfast and lunch there as well and it was OK. Housekeeping was great, and our deal included 3 pieces of clothing being laundered each day for free (saved SG$253 for my jeans and 2 singlet tops). Staff in the dining room, at reception and at the main entrance were all extremely helpful. I would go back again.
"Great stay in corner club room on 30th floor!"
My husband and I had a great 8 night stay here in November, we chose a harbour view club room as one of my main priorities was a view of the amazing Hong Kong skyline! Our flight from the UK got in at 7.30 am Sunday so we arrived at the hotel, sleep deprived at about 9am! The hotel doesn't look like much from the scruffy looking street in the day time but in the evening the area comes alive so don't be put off by its appearance on street level. Our luggage was taken up to the club lounge straightaway and we were taken by bullet lift to the club check in where we were greeted by a friendly lady who immediately showed us into the executive club lounge where there was very much needed free tea and coffee, pastries and juices and free Wi-Fi! She said that she would try and check us in earlier than 3pm but as we had requested a corner room it limited our options for an early check in. We optimistically stayed there for a few hours but by 1pm we felt well enough for a stroll and so stored our luggage and went to look at the promenade (about 10-15 mins away) and the harbour city shopping mall. We got back just after 3pm where we were speedily checked in and luggage was delivered to our room shortly after. We were granted our corner room (3013) which was great, I was a little disappointed at first because we didn't get a view of the main skyline and it was quite fragmented by other large buildings but I grew to love the fabulous harbour view we had eventually! The best bit was that our bathroom and bathtub was surrounded by glass so we had amazing bathtub views too! I had really bad jet lag the first few nights so sat in the bathroom so as not to wake my husband up and watched the sun rise over the harbour which was magical! The room was very spacious, the bathroom had great amenities, air con was very efficient, we had a choice of 2 pillows ( I really miss my hotel panorama memory foam pillow - I even looked to see if I could buy one from the UK!), bed was comfy and we didn't hear any noise from neighbouring rooms which was bliss! The only negatives were that the TV was rubbish, the remote control was really difficult to use and the picture / sound was dreadful. Also we tried to store milk for tea in the mini bar but it was not cold enough and it went off in days. Also, I had a an incident with the shower on the first day as some of the controls were a bit dodgy and ended up spraying myself and most of the bathroom with freezing cold water...well it woke me up!! Some of the bathroom was starting to look a little tired, the grout around the bath was brown and there were water stains in the tub so this could be better. Apart from that the room was great. There is no free wi-fi in room which was annoying but we did get a free smartphone to use during our stay which had mobile internet but it meant if we wanted to use our own mobiles on the wifi we had to go to the club lounge. This was ok as the club lounge was lovely but a bit annoying all the same. The free mobile phone was basic, slow and a little frustrating but a great tool for finding our way around Hong Kong and we found it really useful! A great idea! Breakfast was great and included in our room rate, we were well catered for...there were even pork buns which weren't amazing but fun to try, all the cooked options were there (great scrambled eggs), yogurts, juices, fruit, breads, waffles, pancakes meat, pastries, cheese. I found most of the buffet to be of good quality and we had a wonderful view of the harbour from the breakfast room. The executive club room was fab, free wifi, great coffee machine, soft drinks and there were always snacks during the day and cooked buffet food in the evening, we only really bought lunch during our stay because breakfast was so filling and we could have free snacks and refreshments in the evening at the hotel! The club room has a nice view of the harbour (it is obscured by high rises though) and you can see the light show every night, also you can go to the open air roof terrace which is nice but people are allowed to smoke up there so that's something to consider. There is a happy 'hour' between 5.30 - 8.30 with free spirits, wine, soft drinks and beer available alongside the buffet food. The location is great, I was a bit concerned about access to central but it only takes a couple of minutes on the MTR to cross the river, there are 2 MTR stations minutes away, lots of food outlets, you are close to the promenade (10-15 mins away), star ferry and shopping area. Lots of 7/11 shops to buy snacks and drinks. All the sight seeing we did was easy to get to, the night markets are deceptively far away though and I recommend the MTR rather than walking if you're tired! One area, I felt needs attention though is fire evacuation procedures. Just before midnight the fire alarm sounded for a long time and then stopped, I looked outside and in the hallway the fire alarm light was strobing and I could see from a reflection in the building opposite us they were strobing all the way down the building. I also thought I heard fire engines so to play it safe we got dressed and walked all the way down from the 30th floor via the emergency staircase. When we got to the bottom of the hotel 2 fire engines were there and a handful of bemused looking guests but no staff. We had no idea what was going on and there was no hotel representative to advise us. In the end the fire engine left so we went back up to our room. Given the excellent experience we had in all other areas of our stay we were disappointed that this was handled so poorly. Overall though, the experience was great and we have many happy memories of Hong Kong, a lot of them in the hotel. I thoroughly recommend a club room as the views are better than lower down floors and access to the sky lounge is great value for money. The complimentary breakfast buffet is also good and really sets you up for the day. Try and get a corner room if you can as you get better views across the harbour!
Disappointed did not meet the expectation, old dull boring hotel ,booked the club suite on the 37 th floor ,poor house keeping even after we bought it to the attention of the supervisor Raymond who did apologise ,they still didn't check daily after that evening and the worst was don't expect any sleep in this room ,noise from the Ava restaurant ubove start 0530 set up and into early hours the next morning ,they also use this for private functions ,on our last night they offered to move us at 0300am after complaining but it was to late and we were leaving at 0630 that morning tired and grumpy ,very expensive $$$ to stay at this hotel ,if hadn't fully paid would of changed hotels, will not stay here again ,had friends also book room 3706 same problem
"Interrupted views but still spectacular."
Good service. Good wifI. A new build has interrupted the view even from the 30th floor but still spectacular nonetheless. We booked a superior gold room through the well known website as part of a package as could not justify the extra for an Executive Club Room. On arrival, we asked if a courtesy upgrade was available and it was not (you never know) and so we asked how much to pay for an upgrade and, at 480HKD per night (£53 at the time), it came in much cheaper than it would have if we had included in the online booking. Thoroughly recommend the upgrade at that price. Pays for itself with the free alcohol in the clubroom on the 39th floor 5:30 to 8:30 every night.
"Enjoyable hotel ,great location "
We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights we arrived at 5am and were grateful to be able to hang out in the club lounge until our room was ready. Sharon the Assistant Club floor manager was so helpful and we were able to get into our room a little earlier which was perfect after a long flight. We booked the hotel a while back and was able to secure a 35% discount promo and book the harbourview club room on the 30th floor which was great and it also included breakfast in the AVA restaurant which had lots of choices and a great view on the 38th floor. Our room wasn't huge but good enough for two people , clean and a decent view if the harbour. They are building just in front of the hotel so the view is slightly obscured. The club lounge was also available in the evenings for drinks and apps between 5.30-8.30pm, this was nice after a day of sightseeing. Sharon was fantastic always available to answer questions, give advice and ensure that we were happy with our stay in the hotel. We went on the roof terrace on the 40th floor as well, nice place to chill out and relax . The hotel is located in the perfect position the MTR, shops, bars , restaurants are the waterfront is all close by. We will definately be back and will stay here again.
