I stayed here 6 nights recently and found it fine. Nothing spectacular but clean and generally quiet. I had a room on the 5th floor facing the street and although the street can get busy it didn't disturb my sleep at all. Bed was super comfy with nice linens. I am a light sleeper and sleep with earplugs so notice any noise. The room was very clean and large. From reading other reviews I may have had a refurbished room as everything was in good order. I also think the front rooms are larger than those to the back of the hotel. Bathroom was clean however be careful. The taps in the basin had be connected incorrectly. The side marked on the tap for cold water was actually hot and vice versa. Found that out the hard way. Good amenities but no tissues which seemed odd. Breakfast was included in our rate but after the 2nd morning we went out to a local coffee shop. There wasn't anything major wrong with it just a bit ordinary. Personal preference perhaps. We found the staff a bit hit and miss. Some great and others really should find alternative employment. Overall fine. Location is terrific, so easy to get to the major sights and lots of restaurants around the hotel. Can recommend Les Artists 2 doors up on the same side as the hotel - ate there twice and was terrific. The one next to the hotel forget. There was a group of 8 of us and all the main courses came out one by one over an hour!. Food wasn't great either.
"great location but old inside"
its an d ordinary business and tourist hotel but it's not 5 stars !!!! it old inside, room are clean but with carpeting. The TV in the room does not work, it old, small and of little use. great for one night if you can't find anything better
"Nice hotel centrally located"
Ordinary business and tourist hotel. The location is favourable. Easy walk to Bolshoi ballet, Red Square, Kremlin and shopping. Many good restaurants and shops close to the hotel. Breakfast buffet is good. The bar as well. Area is quiet and safe. Around 10 minutes walk to nearest metro. Staff is polite and helpful. Internet in the lobby and bar.
"5 stars ' Are you kidding me '!! "
After 4 nights staying at ararat park we moved to peter 1 , early check in was the only positive point i can say , the hotel is too old , no one smile , an old man who took our luggages to room didn't accept the tip and refuse it with bad words and body language i ask him to wait for more but he left the room by angry style ! You can hear a lot of sounds from your neighbors room and also the upper floor and lower floor rooms ! I don't know how they built the walls ! We change the room but again and again we heard the sound until midnight, i don't know why peter 1 has 5 stars ! Never back to this hotel , don't waste your money for this hostel .
"No water kettle; TV doesn't work; tips refunded'!"
The hotel is good in general: location is great, service is good by Russian standards and the rooms are nice. However, 3 points which I would like to highlight: 1. This is probably the only 5-star property in the world which does not provide water kettle, cups and spoons in the room as standard feature. Even the 3-star hotel I had stayed in previously in Moscow had tea-making facilities without request. I had to specially make a request for teacups and spoons and a kettle. I even provided my own teabags. 2. The TV in Room 479 does not work. There is no sound. Something to look into please. 3. I thought I was being nice when I tipped the porter upon check-out for helping us with our luggage. He returned my tip instead. I thought this was unacceptable.
