"Several serious problems with our stay"
Ok, good things first- great location near Placa Catalunya and 2 Metro stations, spacious bathroom with a big bath and comfy king size bed. Unfortunately there were several significant problems with our stay 1. Despite emailing the hotel with our arrival time our room was still not ready an hour after check in time. After an 0330 start we couldn't access our room until after 4 pm. 2. We asked for a quiet room only to find our room overlooked the school next door. On the afternoon we arrived and finally got access to our room the school was playing music through their PA system for several hours. Although this was a one off, the noise of the playground and sports area started early and finished late, up to 10 pm. 3. Very unpleasant smell from the bathroom sink 4. Very odd room layout left only a foot wide gap between the end of the bed and the wall to access the room and half of this was filled by the wall mounted TV, meaning that the taller members of our family spent the trip with bruised shoulders but my youngest daughter had several nasty bumps to the head. 5. There was a small terrace area outside our room, tantalisingly supplied with a table and chairs. Unfortunately both access doors were jammed by the bunk beds and a built in desk so unless you were 4 inches wide all we could do was look . 6 .This was the most serious problem- our family room was provided with 2 bunk beds without any guard rail on the top bunk, which was more than 5 ft off the the ground. We asked the hotel for a guard rail on our first day but they could not find one.. For this reason alone I could not recommend this hotel for a family stay.
"Great hotel with a perfect location"
The hotel is lovely , with a perfect location just a minute of walking from catalunia square. There is a free WIFI the room was great for a family . The staff were very kind and helpfull. Very recommended
"Good location with practical benefits"
Nice location as the hotel is very close to Passeig de Gràcia. It took about 10 minutes to La Rambla. The hotel itself is somewhat small. We stayed in a family room with one king-size bed with bunk beds. For those with small kids, I strongly recommend you to order special safety side rails for the bunk beds. Our kids are 4 years old and have never slept in bunk beds. The room amenities were fine but no coffee/tea cups/spoons were equipped. Cleaning was acceptable. But the hydro massage shower was very old. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel but there were a plenty of cafes and bars around.
Petit Palace Barcelona is a boutique hotel in a beautiful old building. Close to 2 metro stations and the main shopping strip of La Rambla this hotel is in a great location. Breakfast is good with many options and bikes are available to use free of charge. The rooms are well appointed and clean. The staff were extremely helpful especially Nathalie and Judit. If you are a family of more than 4, I would recommend booking 2 rooms as the family room is dark with a bunker feel to it and has a fold out double bed which was very uncomfortable. We voiced our discomfort to the manager Natalie and she went out of her way to re-accomodate us, making our stay very comfortable.
"Ok but wouldn't return"
We have recently returned from a stay here. I was disappointed, I didn't find the reception staff helpful or friendly at all. There was no information in the room, I wasn't even aware of check out time let alone facilities such as bike hire and use of a local gym. No one mentioned them to us. On the first night one of our beds hadn't been made up, we had to ask twice for this to be done so we could go to bed. The hotel could do with a refurbishment, the corridors are dark and univiting. In our bathroom we had cracked tiles on the floor and a nasty sewage smell by the sink. The room was dusty and in need of some work. Breakfast was good, with a good selection but overall I was disappointed and wouldn't stay again.
