The Petit Palace Plaza Malaga hotel is situated round the corner from Calle Larios, one of the busiest shopping streets, next to Picasso Museum, the Cathedral of Malaga, Thyssen museum, Grifralfaro Castle, and the Citadel.
It is also 2 kilometres from the railway station and 10 kilometres from the airport.
This unique hotel is located centrally in the old town. Great service and good breakfast buffet.Comment of C. LW , Netherlands the 2014-11-13

"A poor hotel with hot rooms and no air-conditioning..."
For location, this is about as central as you can get. It's in the middle of the main pedestrianised shopping centre and a short walk from the port. A bit difficult to find initially as the taxi can't get close and you're left to find it on your own which isn't easy since it's tucked up a side lane. Get close enough using sat-nav on your phone and you soon spot it from the main Larios area. It all seems nice enough but the first problem we experienced was the room was hot even though it was January, and the air-conditioning wouldn't turn on. Opening the window cooled things down but the street noise kept disturbing our sleep through the night and we woke the next morning with quite a few mosquito bites! Asking at reception about the lack of air-con we were told it wasn't available as Spaniards didn't need it...Mentioning it was uncomfortably hot, she said they'd turn down the heating! This didn't change anything and the next two nights were as bad. There's a glass door to the toilet which is translucent but there's no door checks which means there's a 2cm gap all around which isn't good for keeping toilet issues along the lines of sound and odour contained. We felt the bed was solid which is ok for those who like a hard mattress but we're used to a memory foam top so we had a stiff neck and shoulder after night number 1. The general facilities are spartan and the dining room is just for a basic breakfast of continental tastes and some Luke warm bacon, scrambled egg and German type sausages. Lots of cold meats and cheese etc and pastries. There's no bar or restaurant but that's no hardship when everything is close by outside the hotel. The breakfast room's furniture is all a bit dated and the seats were pretty badly worn. If you can put up with all the above and don't expect the 4 star rating to be even close to a UK 4* standard then its central location is perfect. I wouldn't use it again though.
"Excellent Location and Fiendly Professional Staff"
We enjoyed a 6 night stay at the hotel in a spacious courtyard room. Although, we did not have a view of the cathedral we did have the advantage of having a very quiet room especially with the late night xmas celebrations. The room was exceptionally clean and well stocked with great selection of toiletries The staff were very helpful with directions and booking the Kelipe Flamenco Club, which I can certainly recommend for authentic flamenco. Located right in the historic town you could not get a better location just of the main square. First time I have stayed in Malaga and I was impressed with the friendliness of the people in the city. The museums were of a very high standard with some great pieces of art by local people. Very easy to get around on foot and will certainly be returning next year.
"Great location !"
This hotel could not have been closer to the centre, which was great . We did not have breakfast as we thought 13€ each was a little pricey and had breakfast at a different cafe everyday for nowhere near the price. The hotel receptionists were friendly and the room was spotlessly clean. There was shampoo, shower gel, sewing kit, dental kit, tissues, shoe cleaning kit in the bathroom. We hired the bikes for free, they came with a chain each and we rode along the promenade for 6 miles passing many bars and restaurants on the promenade. We spent a chilled relaxing day doing this. I am not sure how hot the rooms will get in summer and we were told we cannot control the temperature just on and off. It didn't cause us a problem at this time of year too much but we were on the first floor and there were tables for a restaurant below us, at midnight they were dragging the tables and chairs inside which was noisy. I would ask for a higher floor to keep the noise down. Definitely a hotel we would come back to.
"What a gem of a hotel"
Stumbled across the hotel via Booking.com and glad I booked it. The location is perfect. By the Cathedral and the main shopping and restaurant area. Near to all the galleries and museums, yet only a 10 to 15 min stroll if that to the port area with many restaurants. Just a few minutes walk from there is the beach. The hotel itself is quiet and very relaxing. The room we had was huge. Beds very comfortable and the shower was superb. The staff there are some of the best that I have come across. Nothing is too much trouble. I definitely recommend staying there.
"Excellent location. Perfect for a few nights in the heart of Málaga."
Very clean and comfortable. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the centre within walking distance of loads of bars, restaurants and sights. Very friendly and helpful staff. Reasonable price and offers everything a four star hotel should. I would highly recommend this hotel. We really enjoyed our stay in Málaga.
