The Petit Palace Posada del Peine is a boutique hotel located in Madrid’s historic center near the entrance to Plaza Mayor and the popular Puerta del Sol Hotel. The city’s main monuments, capital as well as Gran Vía are just a stroll away, as well as the Paseo del Arte, an area combining three of the world's most important art galleries: the Prado, the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum and the national Museum of Modern Art Center Reina Sofia.

"The Best Hotel to Stay!!!!"
This is the best place to stay. Behind Plaza Mayor and few steps from Mercado de San Miguel. The hotel is centrally situated, near subway station, restaurants and shops. The most wonderful people in the hotel. Very friendly staff. I always stay here. 150% recommend !!! You won't regret it.
This hotel couldn't be in a better location. Walk to everything, but it is noisy, well into the night. The room is great except for the awful smell that goes through the whole building. Smells like they have a problem with the sewer - or maybe this is just normal when being in the old town.
"NOT FOUR STARS and choose another hotel if you want to sleep"
We stayed in the patio Palace Malaga hotel only three days earlier and had a great experience. However, although the location of the hotel is great if it is your first time in Madrid or you want to be close to Plaza Mayor for whatever reason, the noise from the street outweighs everything else if you want any sleep. Additionally, our room smelled like a smokers' room and the poor room layout makes the room seem very small.
"Modern clean hotel in a great location but Awful smell!!!"
The location of this hotel cannot be beat. It is basically withing walking distance of everything (Plaza Mayor, Calle Cava Bajas, Metro Station, San Miguel Market, Royal Palace, etc.). Moreover it is decently clean and service was pretty good and the breakfast was superburb. I would have given this hotel more stars but the things that stopped me 1) Very noisy in the rooms since it is centrally located and 2) There is a retched awful smell throughout the entire hotel excluding the rooms that resembles a broken sewer pipe. I am not kidding, once you enter the hotel, the smell of poop smacks your nose so quick and hard you don't know what to do. Then once you leave your room, likewise. I complained to the front desk which said they would look into it but nothing ever occurred. Other than that, it is a great hotel.
The hotel staff was great but our 4th floor room was exceptionally cramped due to the severe slope of the ceiling. There was very little space to stand. Any movement from one side of the room to the other required crouching and ducking. Location is ideal - lots of shopping and Tapas bars, which also creates a lot of late night noise.
