Zeer rustig hotel. Op wandelafstand van het drukke centrum, gelegen aan een prachtig pakr.Comment of D. Els , Belgium the 2014-08-24

"Petite Palace Pretty disappointing."
A short but much disappointing stay! : Apart from the basics such as : its bathroom has a leaking shower that does not actually functions, with a cheap 1 star hotel designs, while the aesthetics is rather poor, I suppose Hiring someone who's capable of hospitality/ Hotel room design is much needed, this hotel needs refined and well seasoned architects, interior, and lighting hospitality program designers desperately, a decorator simply can not do all the tricks. It is such a huge pity that injustice was done to this once so sophisticated palace.
"Superb location in central Madrid"
This is one of a number of Petit Palace Hotels in Madrid, and excellent it is too. It is located on the corner of Calle de Alfonso X11 and Calle de Montbalban, opposite Retiro Park, and a short walk from one of the main gates. It is close (5-10 minutes walk) to Plaza de Cibeles, which is one of the stops for the airport bus. It is also close ( 5 minutes or so) from the Prado and to the Thyssen Museum both of which are absolute musts during a stay in Madrid. The mediaeval streets of the Centro are close by and a delight to explore and enjoy at many different levels - and the restaurants and bars are everywhere! On the grand routes through the central areas, the architecture is stunning with beautifully ornate, balconied and decorated facades, intermixed with Art Deco and modern structures. The hotel provided really nice accommodation. Our room was clean, tidy, well-appointed, nicely furnished, and comfortable space. From the balcony, on the third floor, overlooking Calle de Montalban, we could see across to the Park. The breakfasts were a treat with a nice balance of fresh food and fruit, with other staples. Eggs of any variety could be had on request - and thus were delivered fresh from the pan. The staff in the breakfast area were friendly and helpful - as were the staff on reception. In Calle de Montalban, a very short stroll round the corner was a small supermarket where litres of bottled water could be bought for a euro. We enjoyed a really special four nights here and enjoyed every minute of it. The only downside (and a very minor downside) was that it was not very close to any metro station. We did, though, walk our socks off, and that was wonderful!
Stayed 3 nights. Very friendly and service-minded staff, with no exceptions. Nice, spacious and quiet room. Perfect location opposite El Retiro Park and within short distance from Prado and Salamanca. Great breakfast. One minor criticism: Our room had a dusty smell all days despite being very clean.
"loved the decor."
great hotel. perfect location for a short break, seeing the sights of central Madrid. Stayed in a family room with my two teenage children. It was spacious and comfortable. Breakfasts were healthy and tasty. Staff were very friendly and helpful. would stay here again.
"Lovely hotel, great staff, perfect location"
We stayed here for three nights. Pedro and Ana, staff at the front desk, could not have been more helpful - giving us suggestions on where to visit and making dinner reservations. We also recommend the delicious breakfasts.
