As with so many 4 star Hotels it is the spa facilities that elevates the average other facilities from really 3 star. Room past its best though spacious poor quality wall coverings throughout. Front desk star a young American who could teach the rest the basics of customer service. I don't expect to be reprimanded when the 3rd attempt at the bill is wrong because I didn't tell them my car was in their garage! Restaurant top dog may have been to the Basil Faulty School of Hotel etiquette closely followed by a tutting evening waitress annoyed because we didn't order the wine as we were sitting down. Dinner excellent but have seen better breakfast buffets in a 2 star in Ibiza. Cafe & bar excellent with a smiling young lady who knows how to make a good G& T
Stayed in February for a Ski Trip ans was very happy with the hotel. The staff were polite and helpful although meal times in the restaurants can be busy so arrive early for the best service. The hotel offer a free shuttle service to the Encamp Cable Car just book at the reception the morning before you plan to go. The rooms were clean and comfortable and serviced daily. For breakfast there was a massive selection of breads, cheeses, hams and cereals along with a selection of hot items too. There is a charge of €25 to use the pool which has a load of hydrotherapy treatments installed, it was very relaxing with Masseuse and Beauty treatments available for an extra charge, There is also a room at the hotel to store your ski gear although I found it easier to store it at the lifts rather than lug it around for the week. It is also very close to the local shopping center and commercial district so you can stock up on your duty free before you head home. Would definitely stay again.
"Incredibly warm and comfortable."
We stayed at the Plaza for one night only on a quick trip to Andorra. Very stylish hotel and super comfortable and warm. We had one of the traditional, wood panelled ceiling type rooms and it was just like a log cabin. Breakfast had a good range of choices and staff were friendly. Great location and easy walking distance to the walking street. Awesome around Christmas time.
"Very disappointing for a 5 star hotel"
I am extremely disappointed with the staff, accusing me to be a liar. I had the misfortune to forget my nice coat in the wardrobe. My partner and I were rushing to make it in good time to the ski slopes. We were further delayed because there weren't enough tables for all the customers in the room where breakfast was served and I ended up forgetting the coat in the room's wardrobe. When I realised it was missing we were already 100 miles away. So I called reception to please take special care and keep my coat safe. By my surprise, this £200 coat was never found. I asked the manager to check again, as I was 100% sure I left it in the room, but once again I was told in a rather sarcastic way that the ladies who cleaned the room didn't find it. I am truly disappointed as the hotel was rated to such high standard and they ended up misplacing my coat and accusing me of being a liar. The room was very standard. There was nothing special about it; only the smell of old furniture. The bathroom was not looked after. When we moved in, we found that the tap in the bath was left on and the bottom of the door was swollen from excess humidity or lack of ventilation. Breakfast was quite varied. However, the room where breakfast was catered was too small. Baring in mind the dimensions of the hotel, the number of tables was rather low. The hotel car park was very expensive. I have been to other hotels in Andorra la Vella where the parking was included with the price of the room. I am not going back to this hotel, and I would never recommended to anyone.
So from the moment I arrived at the hotel they could not do enough to help me. I arrived after having my bag and passport stolen at Barcelona airport and from the minute I arrive both the reception team and manager could not do enough to help me. I would like to thank Leonard and Peter they were fantastic helping to explain and book transport for me to go to the police station and back to the consulate in Barcelona but to be fair everyone was brilliant but in particular these two. Room itself was lovely very spacious and always cleaned to a high standard. Food was also amazing and we opted for breakfast and dinner as we had planned to ski. For the days we managed to ski the transfer shuttle bus is no issue loads of times available and only take 10 minutes to get to en-camp. Reception area was brilliant, only thing I would say is the bar needs to be more renovated into a bar or separate than the cafetière but that makes just a suggestion. Considering the circumstances I enjoyed my holiday and this was due to the staff at the Hotel Plaza. I would like to say thank you all and hopefully return next year. Anyone that is looking to go to this hotel I would say yes boom it .... it's 5* standard.
