"Nice Hotel, Great Location!"
After a very busy few months of running our beach side hotel and restaurant on the island of Grenada, my husband and I decided we would head back to our home in the states via Rome! 4 family members from the US, as well as friends from Sicily, and others from U.K. met up with us in Rome for a wonderful week of sightseeing, dining and family and friendship. With the exception of our Sicily friends, we all stayed at The Hotel Ponte Sisto and were pleased that we did. The location was great! We were within walking distance ( some walks a little further away than others) to most everything we wanted to see. If you are not a walker as we are, hop into a cab, easy to catch from the hotel, and you can be a terrible your destination in a few short minutes. the Hotel location is perfect! The hotel is lovely. Our room was clean, updated and spacious. most we have stayed in over our many years of eurpoean travel have been on the small side. Our bathroom and shower were large and the water was hot with great water pressure! The complimentary hotel b-fast was average, however, there is an additional menu offering eggs and sides for a small charge. The coffee was never hot!!! I like my morning coffee hot and really struggled to find a full carafe of hot coffee in the b-fast room. The hotel bar and gathering room was a real plus for us as we were many people and it offered us a comfortable place to gather for a coctail before heading out togetherness for the evening. We found the staff to be friendly, courteous and helpful at all times. A member of the front desk staff recommended a restaurant for us to go to one evening nd it turned out to be the best restaurant we ate in the entire week we were here. I highly recommend you try Memmo for dinner one night, or two! It's a short walk over the bridge from the hotel. We enjoyed our time here so much that I hate to spoil a great review with a negative closing. There was construction taking place near our room. Perhaps renovations' I am unsure, but with the exception of the weekend, the pounding and hammering began around 8:00 in the morning! Not goo de for vacationers who like to sleep in a little and relax in the morning before headin back out for another busy day. It is currently 9:00 AM and as I write this all I can hear is loud pounding close by. This has been going in since 8:00 this morning. When we made the reservation we were not told we would have to endure the loud noise of construction. Should you decide to stay here, and I recommend that you do, first ask about room location in proximity to the construction. If you like to sleep in while on vacation, unless you are in a room away from the hammering, this may not be the best place for you until what ever they are doing has been completed. ASK!! Aside from the morning banging, this hotel is great!
"Good hotel with great location"
Hotel is in good condition but starting to show it's age. The location is great, not next to anything but close to everything. Breakfast was ok, beds are pretty hard IMO, your experience may vary. Service from the staff was great!
"Courtyard and hotel is nice....Rooms were just ok..."
The staff is friendly and the hotel public areas are nice. We didn't eat at the restaurant because we wanted to be quick about dining until dinner. The rooms are ok. Clean and private. Our room faced a back alley that was very noisy. The bathroom was ok except for the shower. The shower and bath are one unit and are very small/narrow... Watch out for the water nobs for the bath... You might just end up with bruises on your legs. The price was decent the location was good.... Nothing was overwhelmingly great though.
Nice size room. Shower was a little small but that is the way in most of Italy. Great location for walking through Travestere, Piazza Navona, Trevi, Spanish Steps & Pantheon. Also about a 20 minute walk to the Vatican.
This is a quaint, quiet, very clean hotel on a side street just this side of the bridge to Trastevere. Its in a great location with just a 5 minute walk to Campo dei Fiori. We had made a reservation many months ago for a superior room which is an upgrade from a basic and requested a separate shower. The room was very, very small without space for even a sitting area. The bed was great and the bathroom was quite large, very modern with beautiful appointments and had the walk-in shower I had requested. When I asked the day clerk about the room size she replied quite brusquely that if I wanted sitting space I should have asked for it when I made my reservation! Who knew!!! By contrast the night clerk Luna went out of her way to try and resolve the difficulty I was having with getting euros out of the ATM machine.(I since found out that some ATM machines in Rome will not take American ATM cards for euros). The breakfast room looked out over the gardens and was a relaxing area for the usual European breakfasts, lots of assorted pastries, meats and cheeses and cold cereals. We would have liked to have had drinks on the rooftop terrace but it was cold and wet outside so we had our happy hour in the lobby bar with a great male bartender. If it wasn't for the room problem and the day clerk's attitude I would have given this hotel 5 stars. Since we were there for only two nights I didn't press the issue as on the whole we did enjoy the hotel. and can recommend it.
