"Excellent Hotel but a bit far from the city center"
It can be tough sometimes to get a good hotel at a reasonable price in Munich. We decided to select the Prinzregent even though it was outside of town. The hotel is excellent, but the location must be taken into account. If you are spending time at the Messe (Convention Center) or are doing some side trips from Munich the Prinzregent is highly recommended. Parking is free and the hotel is convenient to the Autobahn. There is an S-Bahn station 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Trains leave every 20 minutes to the heart of the city. The trip is only 15 minutes and the cost is 6Euro for an all day unlimited use ticket. In the hotel the rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable. The restaurant is very good for both breakfast and dinner.
For some travelers the location can be a problem, but in a city having such a great public transportation system, it really shouldn't be. It will take you 15 minutes by train to Marienplatz and the trip to the airport is also not very complicated either - just one change needed. If you travel in a group, buy a day group ticket. The hotel building is an old post office and it really has a spirit. The lobby area is lovely. The rooms are nice as well. WLAN is offered for free and it works on 2 devices. You just need to enter your room number and the last name. If you fancy coffee or tea in the room, just go for it. They offer a great tea selection. The breakfast that so many other customers praised, was really excellent. Great choice of breads, cheeses, ham, yoghurt, fruits. You want an omelett, the cook is ready to take the order. Special tees, nice coffee - and in case you want to start the morning celebrating, start with a glass of Prosecco. The wellness area consists of a small gym with one treadmill, one stepping device and a bike. You can also relax in the sauna - apparently for a small charge nowadays. This due to changed tax regulations. The staff is exceptionally helpful and welcoming. In short - Prinzregent is a very good alternative to the bit overpriced hotels in the crowded center. I will definitely stay there again on my next trip to Munich.
"Great service, solid property"
I was here for a two-day business meeting. The staff was accommodating the entire time. The food and service were excellent. The location isn't far from most Munich attractions which made it easy to get to and from our entertainment. I would stay here on non-business trips.
"Great all around "
7 colleagues and I stayed in this hotel for meetings in late September. It is a stellar hotel and we would all highly recommend it. Bedrooms: well-appointed, immaculate, and comfortable Meeting room: comfortable chairs, good technology Breakfast: wide variety, friendly staff Lunches: very tasty and a good selection Service: no request was too much for the team and we found the staff to be warm Location: quiet, with good access; 20 minute can ride to centre city
"Great combination of warmth and tradition"
From a very helpful staff to quiet rooms and great food, we totally enjoyed our stay at the Prinzregent. We were vacationing, but noted many business people chose this hotel as well. Up front you must understand you are not in the heart of Munich but an easy 15 minute or so S2-to Riem local train from the main station. Once you arrive in Riem, it is no more than a six minute walk to the hotel down a quiet street. We made the back and forth from central Munich three times while we were there. No problems. The food: ample breakfast, everything tasty, good "American" coffee. You will not go hungry. We ate dinner in the hotel on our first night. The char was incredible, and beautifully presented with fresh vegetables. My traveling partner had the Tyrolean style beef which was like a steak - very tender and delicious. The small salad I also ordered was probably the freshest and most tasty combination of greens, tomatoes, veggies I've had in a long time. All excellent. Be aware that the only other choice we saw in the immediate area for dinner was an Italian restaurant behind the hotel. We did not eat there. We spent our days in central Munich exploring the beautiful city and checking out Oktoberfest, eating there two nights and returning to the hotel in the evening. The staff: all spoke English and truly wanted to help, always with a smile. They helped us access internet, answered questions, printed our train boarding passes for our continuing travels to Florence. Would definitely stay here again!
