We spent a night at the Radisson Blu Marseille. The hotel is located towards the end of Vieux Port. Check in was smooth and the staff discreetly facilitated an upgrade to a suite according to Club Carlson status which was a very nice gesture. Excellent view overlooking the Vieux Port. Room itself was very well equipped and the stay was very enjoyable. Only comment would be the in-room breakfast - we ordered a small number of items according to the ala carte menu but when the food and bill came it was a full breakfast and we were charged perhaps 2-3 times of what we ordered. The menu could be clarified to avoid confusion.
"My only hub in Marseille to feel like home"
I have one word to describe everything, "excellence" for a 4 star Radisson Blu. The staff were very very kind and very professional. They took care of us as if they knew us for years. The breakfast variety was just perfect and freshly served on daily basis. It's located at a perfect spot in Marseille, away from noise but also very close to everything! My family and I would definitely return.
"Good place to stay "
I stayed in this hotel for business visit and I found the hotel quite comfortable It is nicely located and has well appointed rooms which are large The service level is good and good place to stay both for business and pleasure
My wife and I came to Marseillle on a surprise few-days-away-from-the-kids trip. We picked the Radisson given the convenient pricing and its location. We should have avoided it! While the room was quite spacious, the house-keeping service was less than poor. Soaps were not being replaced in the bathroom, which pipes conveyed a terrible smell since no-one from the maintenance team bothers cleaning them regularly (it does not take a rocket scientist to do it!). The air conditioning was disfunctional and despite our complaints no-one bothered. Every morning we were welcomed at the lobby level (just outside the entrance) by groups of cleaning ladies making all possible noises and demonstrating in front of the lobby claiming better pay and treatment... Very nice, indeed. Management was below any standards as they could have apologized to customers and, possibly, offered a discount or pick up part of the parking costs. Instead, the general manager was roaming around the lobby... doing whatever but certainly not attempting to speak to his guests. Under such conditions, we did not bother trying the hotel's restaurant out and we probably did well. We will certainly come back to Marseille which is a wonderful city but certainly not at the Radisson. Not a good deal, regardless of the price we paid. Everything there was aggravating.
"Not my idea of a Radisson Blu"
The main restaurant was under refurbishment when we were here and so the breakfast was served on the first floor in some meeting rooms. The quality of the breakfast was very poor and the service was not experienced nor properly trained - seemed like a lot of students who wanted to hide when you had a question. Check-in and check-out were unfortunately dreadfully slow and with a 3.5 year old child this was hell. The staff however were lovely and very helpful and knowledgeable. The swimming pool area was quite nice and the staff were very nice and attentive. The water is not heated and in early May this wasn't ideal but I am sure that during the summer it must be lovely. The location is around the harbour and you may well want to think about walking about late at night because unfortunately some of the other premises around the hotel are rundown and the people walking around in groups were quite scary: yobbish behaviour is found everywhere of course.
