"Has its ups and downs"
I stayed there one night as a stay-cation because they had a pool and it was going to be a hot and sunny weekend. Check in was at 12, and I arrived at 12:30. They gave me room 105 and when I got there, the room hadn't been cleaned and the refrigerator didn't work. They let me store my bags in another room while they cleaned it, so I went to the pool. The pool is very, very small and the photos of it on their website are misleading. Additionally, the pool chairs are made of wood and get very hot in the sun, as do the walkways. The room itself was ok (once it was clean), had good a/c, but after three requests, they never fixed the refrigerator. I was also woken up by very loud church music at 7:00, so there must be a church nearby. Breakfast was standard for Argentina - pastries, coffee and juice. The woman at the front desk was very pleasant. Overall, an average 2 star (USA standards) hotel.
This was an excellent choice for the trip that I did. Located at San Telmo neighborhood, near from Puerto Madeiro (you can go walking), Casa Rosada and down town. The Hotel is very charm, clean and employees very pleasent. At first site, from the out side you couldn't imagine how nice Ribera Sur is, its location is a little dark but very trustable. I recommend for my friends.
"Minus a star only cuz the noise and it cost $100 for our laundry"
We enjoyed our stay at this place it was clean and nice (our room was very small...smaller than any room we have ever stayed but there were other bigger) No problems with the staff we found the man that worked the evening especially hospitable. there was a misunderstanding with where to take our laundry and then they charged us $100usd we were pretty ticked about that (that wasn't even same day service either) . The laundry charge was almost the same price as our whole stay there. Also the walls and windows are quite thin. You can hear everyone eating in the restaurant and people upstairs and next to you etc. The location was great...on a big street which is convenient to find for taxis walking etc. San Telmo square is right there and a ton of fun. Must do the antique fair! We also were able to walk downtown in ten minutes and lo boca in 20. Bus stop is in front of the hotel also!
"An oasis in the city"
I had a wonderful stay in this hotel. I cannot say enough about the level of hospitality at this place, it is not something that you see often these days, warm and kind without overdoing it, you get a sense that these people really enjoy their job and are passionate about it. Reception, housekeeping and Restaurant staff were all great. There are a lot of common areas including the pool to relax during the summer heat. I only wish the restaurant was open for dinner since there are not many options nearby.
"Unfriendly experience with the staff.."
The king size bed was nothing but two single beds with two single mattresses pushed together which gave me back pain and resulted in waking up during the night to push the two beds together which kept separating.. when I confronted the woman at the reception with my discomfort hoping they would at least get a big mattress and put it on the two beds pushed to one another I got an answer of "but it is a king size" this is what you asked for and what you got without any concern, solution or apology. Knowing that I paid for a superior residence. the area is close to puerto madero but the hotel it self is in a street that looks dangerous. On the website while booking it said the room had a "patio" of course that's nothing but the patio of the hotel which nothing special for the room.
