"Pleasant, cozy hotel with one disputable detail"
Entering the room it looked inviting and cozy to me. My room on the roof floor was stylish and equipped with skylights to be operated electrically. The parquet floor transmitted a feeling of warmth and cleanness. In the morning, I enjoyed a rich breakfast buffet in the welcoming groundfloor restaurant. The peronnel appeared friendly and helpful even for an extra. Yet at one point I got disappointed: there was this beautiful bar/restaurant called "Settimo Cielo" meaning seventh heaven and, yes, one feels this way: a beautiful view on one side over the roofs of the neighborhood on the other side onto the towers of the cathedral. All is nicely redone in a modern style. But the restaurant is a smoking place.... I did not know such thing still exists in the civilized world!
"Solid Service, Awesome Location!"
If you're looking for lodging right in the center of things, this one's for you. Located a few steps from Stephansplatz Station on the U3 line, you just turn around when you get up the escalator and it's right there on Singerstraße beside the Aida Café and across from the McDonald's. It's an old mid-sized hotel with a tiny lobby and elevators, but extremely efficient and friendly. They always greet you with a smile and are willing to help you out with directions and some even remember what room you are staying in (you have to leave your key with front desk every time you leave). They always had the perfect amount of staffing, and I never had to wait in line even later in the evening. Buffet breakfast was free and plentiful, with a pretty varied selection including breads, cheeses, cold meats, jams, cereals, yogurt, fruit juices, pastries and fruits. There was also a hot plate that always had scrambled eggs and either bacon or sausage as well as grilled vegetables. It's in the lower restaurant that serves as an Italian restaurant in the evenings, but I never ate there as it never looked very busy or interesting (there are lots of choices for Italian food elsewhere). The room itself was quite large and clean. Lots of sitting space and hardwood floors done in a traditional style but well-maintained. There's a mini-bar that I never figured out what it was until I checked out lol. Big hanging closet with plenty of hangers, and lots of folding drawers to put accessories and undies in. Large bed consisted of 2 single mattresses pushed together on one bedframe which would split if I slept in the middle...odd. There is a single pillow and little duvet on this big bed when you first walk in, but there is more in the closet above the in-room safe! Bathroom is spacious as well in sterile white...be wary of the really high edges of the tub, and a weird metal lip at the entrance to the bathroom (I think it's to prevent flooding the room) that is easy to trip on if you're older or you're making a groggy trip to the toilet in the middle of the night. Housekeeping always came at around 11/noon and not too early so they weren't intrusive. Overall, a nice basic hotel right on a large pedestrian shopping street with both high end and mall-class stores abound. There are tons of restaurants and cafés within the vicinity, but are crowded with tourists so the service can be surly and slow so try to venture out and explore a bit once you get your bearings. Definitely stay here if you want a good place to introduce yourself to this amazing city...Hotel Royal is priced very well for what you get and the multicultural staff is always there to help with a genuine smile!
"Great hotel in the heart of Vienna"
We could not have picked a better hotel in Vienna. It's location is right at the heart of the city and all the key visitor locations are around the old city centre. We were made very welcome at reception and all of the staff were also showed excellent customer skills. There are two restaurants, an Italian one on the ground floor and a more formal on the rooftop. Neither are cheap but the service in both reflects the very high quality of the food served. The wine selection in the Italian must be the best (and most expensive) in town! The rooms are first class spacious immaculately clean and the daily maid service the best we have had compared to other hotels. I would readily recommend this hotel first class in every way!
"Great location "
Just back today from Vienna stayed in this hotel. What a fantastic location couldn't ask for better. The roof top restaurant is well worth a visit first class food. Rooms were big enough and clean. Staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast was good. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Located very close to the underground station and St Stephens cathedral. A fairly short walk to the Opera House where two of the the open top bus tours stop. Room very comfortable. Breakfast excellent. We also had an evening meal in the hotel which again was very good. Reception staff very pleasant. We were leaving early int he morning (5.45am to get a train) and were given a lunch of fruit, a ham roll and bottled water. Plenty of bars and restaurants close by and only 20 yards from bustling Stefansplatz though not noisy at all.
