Nestled in the luscious green peace and tranquillity of Aventine Hill, The San Anselmo 4-star hotel is the ideal spot to escape the hustle and bustle of the city after an exciting day of shopping and sightseeing. Housed in a quaint building dating back to the early 1900s, the historic hotel showcases the traditional, subtle colours of Roman homes. From the first step into the reception area complete with family paintings and classic stone fireplace, the elegant decor and furnishings at The San Anselmo create a cosy atmosphere where guests can feel home.
Each of the spacious and welcoming rooms boast exquisite parquet, antique furniture and ornaments which complement the modern bathroom with Jacuzzi bathtub. In summer, The San Anselmo estate garden offers the perfect place to stimulate the senses with a rich continental breakfast surrounded by beautiful green scenery, birdsong and fragrant flowers.
Ideally located on Aventine Hill, one of the most exclusive residential areas in the city centre, The San Anselmo is just a few metres away from the spectacular San Anselmo Benedictine Convent, the beautiful Basilica of Santa Sabina, the Church of Santa Prisca, a masterpiece of Christian art, the romantic Giardino degli Aranci, as well as Circus Maximus. The San Anselmo is within easy reach of the underground station.

Semplicemente la migliore accoglienza mai riscontrata in un hotel. Efficienza e cordialità vere, traspare passione per il proprio lavoro.Comment of N. Gerolamo Giovanni, Italy the 2016-02-20
We had a wonderful experience, helped by the upgrade to room 829 which had panoramic views of the city. Thw Aventine hill area is classy, and within walking distance to all the main tourist attractions (40 minutes to the Vatican was the longest. This was a very special trip for my wife's 60th birthday , so thank you San Alesmo hotel. Whoever you used a an interior designer will one day be sitting at the right hand of the almighty, truly inspirational. Thanks againComment of R. Keith, United Kingdom the 2015-08-28
Stayed for 4 nights with my daughter we had a fabulous twin room with a terrace. This was our retreat after a long days sightseeing. The Circus Maximus and the Coloceum only 15/20 walk, and a very present walk. If I could add two things to the hotel it would be that they did an evening meal and had tea and coffee facilities in the room. I would recommend this hotel and would definitly stay there again.Comment of W. Yvonne, United Kingdom the 2014-10-16
A beautiful hotel in a very quiet location with good local restaurants. I have never slept so well at a hotel before. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone visiting Rome.Comment of B. Lorraine, United Kingdom the 2014-10-13
Parfait dans l'ensemble salle de bain un peu petite, sinon bien, avec baignoire jacuzzi Sur la colline Aventino, situé entre le vieux et le jeune Rome! Bien pour sortir le soir...Comment of F. DAVID, France the 2014-09-21

This is a very lovely hotel in a quiet location not far from the ancient rome tourist sites. The rooms were small but tastefully decorated. On arrival we received prosecco and strawberries on the house which was a real treat. The breakfast rooms and reception rooms were lovely and complimentary cake and tea was available in the afternoons.Comment of W. Megan, United Kingdom the 2013-12-08

"Rugby Match weekend in Rome"
Lovely hotel in a great part of Rome, Staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. We were upgraded gratis and had a fantastic view from our large balcony. Allessandro the exceptional Concierge was very helpful with local restaurant recommendations. Lovely guest area for afternoon tea or a late (not too late) night drink. We had a few evening chats including a post match review with other Irish guests with a small tipple. If arriving in Fiumicino Airport get the train to Ostiense station and taxi to hotel circa €8. You can walk but it will take about 15 to 20 minutes. If using the Rome metro Pyramide is the nearest station which is about 8 to 10 minutes walk. BTW Ostiense train station and Pyramide Metro are close but not joined underground as we had hoped. I recommend the afternoon tea in San Anselmo. It is exceptional value. Short walk to local RC Church for Sunday service and adjacent park on the Aventine Hill with fine view over the Tiber and north to the Vatican.
We had booked this 8 months before our arrival and we were not disappointed. It is a lovely hotel, very clean set in a quiet location though it is only 5 mins walk from the Tram and 10 mins from the Metro (Pyramid on Blue line). There are several restaurants and shops all within walking distance. There is a hill to the main restaurants and transport system, going down is fine but coming back might be a struggle for some. Our room 819 was gorgeous and looked out to the front it was small, there was not much walking space around the bed and we struggled mainly because we were staying for 7 nights and had 2 suit cases full of clothes to find room for. The wardrobe would have been sufficient but there wasn't enough clothes hangers. The bathroom had everything you needed and we were always left with plenty of toiletries. It was small and had a shower over the bath which was fine for us, but it took a bit of navigating to get in. Towels and bedding was changed everyday. I have seen reviews that said rooms were musty but we did not find this. For those who would have liked tea and coffee making in the room, this is not the case. There was a well stocked mini bar but we did not use it. There is a safe in the room which is free and easy to use. The hotel bar was quaint and stepped into the sitting lounge area was cozy and made you want to stay for 'another'. Breakfast is continental, but surprisingly good. There was still eggs (scrambled & boiled) and bacon which was tasty but not hot. Coffee was amazing, the best I had in Rome. I do love fruit for breakfast and some was out of a tin, I can only assume it was the time of the year. The small pastries were tasty and cute (just small enough to have another!), they were stored in a covered case which kept them just warm. There is a lovely garden and seated area to the front of the hotel but it was still a little chilly for February, though I can see it been gorgeous in warmer weather, The staff were pleasant, attentive but not overbearing. I have and will continue to recommend Hotel San Anselmo but do bear in mind that you are in a City no different than London so rooms are not generous it is still very good value for money.
Luxurious experience and great value. Fabio made sure we were well looked after and went above and beyond to make sure our trip to Rome was a memorable one. A real 5 star experience. Could not recommend it more.
"Amazing hotel and brilliant value for money"
The service was brilliant, the staff couldn't be more helpful in booking taxi's, recommending places to eat, ordering food in. The room was a good size and the bed was huge and very comfortable with a Jacuzzi bath which was very much need after viewing the sights and walking 10+ miles each day. The location is brilliant and Testaccio at the bottom of the hill is amazing for some authentic Roman food, gelato and bakery. The breakfast was great and enough to ensure it doesn't get repetitive, the chocolate doughnuts and croissants are a must!! Also the fresh honey is lovely. We loved the location and enjoyed the 15 minute stroll to the main attractions either past the gardens or along the river. Would definitely recommend and go back if we visit Rome again in the future. Thank you S Anselmo!
"Quiet place lovely view"
Anselmo is on the hill near the key hole where one can glimpse the Vatican. Nearby are parks and walking is a pleasure. The hotel 4star is lovely but not as good as its sister property Villa San Pio. The rooms a furnished with flair but smaller and unusually larger bathrooms. As always the hotel staff are efficient and helpful.
