Dorsoduro, with its art colleges and university, has long been home to artists, designers, writers and educators. A particular feature of the Hotel San Sebastiano is its convenient location, near the district's 15th century San Sebastiano church and featuring masterpieces by Paolo Veronese and Tiziano Vecellio. It is also near to the Galleria dell' Accademia which holds the collective works of Venetian masterpieces from the XIV to the XVIII centuries.

"Very nice hotel in a lovely area of Venice"
We stayed here 4 nights and enjoyed every moment. The staff is warm, welcoming and very helpful. The hotel gave us a free upgrade to their junior suite, a lovely room with a balcony overlooking a canale. For everyone looking for an excellent hotel in a neighbourhood a bit off the tourist trail, we wholeheartedly recommend this place. We will most definitely book it again on our next visit.
"Peaceful base in good location"
We spent 3 nights here at the start of the month. We were in Room 10 which is on the ground floor next to the front door and with disabled access direct from the canal pavement a possibility, although evidently not used for quite some time. The room was spacious with a fridge and safe, and a large en suite including a shower with a seat, a toilet with raised seat (not removable) and a bidet. The only drawbacks were (1) no tea & coffee making facilities and (2) the only mains socket was used by the TV, so charging our laptop required unplugging the TV. The room does also have 2 sockets in the bedside light switches, but they are for the smaller type of 3 in line sockets used in Italy and we don't have an adapter for those. The hotel has a walled garden at the back but unfortunately during our visit it was closed for maintenance. Breakfast was good: corn flakes, 2 types of muesli, 3 fruit juices, rolls, toast, yoghurt, fresh fruit, and unusually for Venice, hot food: scrambled eggs, mini sausages and bacon. The hotel is easy to find from the San Basilio boat stop (there's a supermarket by that stop too) and also not far from the more important San Zattere boat stop. Also it is straightforward to walk to the St Mark's Square area. We enjoyed our stay.
"Venice in style in a great location"
Old Venetian palace therefore rooms have old style charm, superior rooms with view are nice and spacious. Stuff is friendly and flexible (eg. if you want to take glasses up to the room), good breakfast buffet which is not so usual in Italy, The location was the best though Dosodoro is a local neighborhood, quiet itself but in walking distance to eg. San Polo. 2 minute walk to the Vaporetto station to reach San Marco or any other place very conveniently. We took the bus from the airport and walked which was easy enough with a small suitcase.
Airport transfer taxi did not turn up(hotel staff adamant that it was there---so why would I get another taxi then waterboat''). Hotel room tiny to say the least, shower head pathetic. Breakfast was excellent as was the waitress
"Great hotel in a great location"
We needed a short break away from the UK and have always loved this little corner of Venice: quiet and undiscovered, but only a short walk to the Accademia and the action (if you want it!), and ten minutes' walk to the transport hub at Piazzale Roma. We were given a warm welcome on arrival and were pleased with the room. It wasn't that large, but was adequate - after all, who goes to Venice to stay in their hotel room' Our room was no 35 on the second floor, and it had a great view of the canal outside and the church and campo opposite. I found the bed a little hard, but I do have a bad back and am very particular about mattresses. The buffet breakfast was very good, with a wide choice and excellent coffee. All in all, an excellent hotel away from the tourist track but not too far away from the major attractions and sights. We shall certainly be back.
