Dorsoduro, with its art colleges and university, has long been home to artists, designers, writers and educators. A particular feature of the Hotel San Sebastiano is its convenient location, near the district's 15th century San Sebastiano church and featuring masterpieces by Paolo Veronese and Tiziano Vecellio. It is also near to the Galleria dell' Accademia which holds the collective works of Venetian masterpieces from the XIV to the XVIII centuries.

"lovely and friendly"
We also stayed there for 3 nights before we hopped on our sailing schooner. The location was fabulous and the hotel was lovely, quiet, and elegant. The room we had was on the top floor with lovely views of the gardens and fountain. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. A bonus was that we could take a taxi cab from the airport ( not a launch) almost all the way to the hotel and then walk just a short block to the hotel!!!
"Very pleased we chose this hotel"
Our room was at the back with not much of a view, but that was made up for by the size of it. Very clean, very comfortable. The staff were all very helpful and the breakfast was excellent. Loved the garden!
We stayed here in June this year and liked it enough to return in September. On this occasion it was only for one night but had booked some time ahead. We had paid for a double classic room but were shown to one which could hardly be called double. The bed was 4 .6 ft. wide and pushed between wall and door so no bedside table or shelf. The shower room was small and with the smallest / narrowest toilet and bidet I have ever come across on my many travels. We complained to receptionist to no avail- the manager insisted it was a double room. We were charged the same as the other rooms. So thumbs down- we shall not be returning. Pity as it is in a good area -- but so are many other good hotels.
"Comfortable and Perfectly Placed"
We are just coming to the end of a 4 night stay here in this very friendly and comfortable hotel. The staff are most helpful and the free water taxi ride to Murano was great (all you have to do is sit through a demonstration of glass blowing and view their gallery. No really hard sell). Breakfast had a good choice without being overwhelming. The best thing about the hotel is its location -2 mins from the Zattere promenade and the cruise terminals. Similar to local cafes, restaurants and individual local shops yet only 10 mins from the Grand Canal. Much more reasonable prices too!
stayed here for three nights at the start of our holiday and we absolutely loved it. We had paid for a room with a view, and were not disappointed. our room had two corner windows looking out at the canal beside the hotel, and the Guidecca canal behind. the room had an incredible beamed ceiling, complete with stunning murano chandelier. I think this is one of the nicest rooms I have ever stayed in. The staff were all helpful and welcoming, particularly one of the reception staff who had the smiliest face ever! The breakfast was lovely, and the garden a lovely peaceful oasis. The hotel was in a great location. I had stayed in this area before and love it. We had good restaurants close by, and the hotel was happy to give us recommendations. All in all a perfect stay.
